Problem with 0.4 nozzle, new one still the same result

Hi, I bought A1 about 2 months ago, i had absolutely 0 problems with it just until a few days ago. I have 2 nozzles, 0.4 and 0.2. Recently my friend asked me to print something for him. So I agreed. Unfortunately, when I started printing item he wanted (using 0.4 nozzle) i noticed a very different outcome. The print got very rought texture, and looked like ass. Very different from my previous prints. So I decided to run the print again. I got the same result. I switched filaments. The same result. I switched to 0.2 nozzle. The print was absolutely fine. So I decided to do some digging and decided to try to clean the 0.4 nozzle. And i started testing. Unfortunately, nothing I did, fixed the printing of my 0.4 nozzle (flow testing calibration, different filaments, different settings, default settings, slowing the print, trying to unclog the noozle for 10th time. Still prints looked ass. So I bought new 0.4 nozzle. Everything started working again. I printet some christmas ornaments with white filament and everything was good. So I decided to print the thing for my friend again. I changed filament to black, tweaked some settings to make the print stronger and slowed the print. And it happened again, prints started to look like ass again. With 0.2 nozzle everything is fine. I did some test and I just can’t figure it out. I need some help please  Photos of failed prints. The first black is with ironing, then the rest are with default settings.

Also the line of filemant if i try to extrude it manually that comes out of the nozzle is very rought and not smooth like it used to be.

Hi mawesto, i got the same problem. Printing with 0.6 nozzle looks fine, but from one day to the other I got this ugly prints with my 0.4 nozzle.

Nothing helps. Did you solved this issue?

Thanks!

Nico

I encountered bad filament twice - both times it was black filament.
If something does not print as expected my first check is always if other filament acts the same bad way.
Sometimes it is moisture in the filament, sometimes it can be contaminated.

Lets say the filament and the print settings are not to blame…
The extruder might be full of fine plastic stuff on these transport wheels, causing it to slip when working hard - like during the first layer when all has to pushed flat over the plate.
And like it or not, even the hotend can play up badly at time.
I had a few times with the old hotend that stuff would literally bake onto the inside of the melting chamber.
When then these hard things dislodge they can cause partial or full blocks of the nozzle.
Some people claim a cold pull will fix it but that never worked for me.
Especially PETG or Nylon just won’t let go once baked in.
Far better is to remove the heater and temp sensor to soak the hotened over night in a suitable solvent.
After that one can clean the rest out properly.

Ok, the hotend is clean, nothing blocked and the extruder runs fine and without slipping…
My worst struggle that also took me the longest to locate started with a batch of really cheap, no name filament.
So obviously I kept blaming the filament.
Got fresh supplies but the prints were still horrible.
Turned out the thermal paste for the heater and temp sensor dried out and turned into a cracked cake…
Wrong temp readings, no proper heating…
