I have an X1C printer. I often have problems with loading filament. Filament is taken from AMS and fed to the extruder. After a short while, the filament is withdrawn and reloaded. After a while, it is withdrawn and reloaded again. The process is repeated many times, and then an error is signaled. When I try to feed filament manually (I manually insert a piece of filament into the extruder), everything is ok. Neither the extruder nor the hotend is clogged. It looks as if the hotend was initially clogged, but after some time it unclogged. I only use PLA. The described problem has been happening for some time. Before, everything was ok.
I have that when my PTFE’s are not sitting properly or when filament is getting stuck on the spool.
For the latter, “AMS savers” can be a great help although they do not fully eliminate the problem. Like these: Filament guide for AMS saver V2 by madizmo - MakerWorld
When I had a similar problem, it was after servicing my machine and I’d put the PTFE tube back in incorrectly. Once I’d pushed it back in correctly (and checked the other tubes) everything was back to normal.
Do you experience this problem regardless of the location of the filament in the AMS? If not, perhaps the AMS feeding system is worn or faulty?
AMS is not a problem and works fine. I have two AMS modules and the problem occurs regardless of which one I take the filament from. The problem only occurs before the first print of each day. After that it is ok. It looks like something is blocking the filament flow. Sometimes I hear that the extruder is clicking, as if it couldn’t load the filament. But when I manually push the filament, it is loaded correctly. I looked at the hotend and extruder and I do not see anything wrong. I also replaced the PTFE tube.
