Problems at bigger print

Hello, X1C is my first printer (3weeks). I did some PLA and ABS without problems. Now I did try print AMS Riser V2 with PETG (PM filament grey and dried). I did temperature tower (255c) calibrated PA, Flow ration and decrease volumetric speed to 10mm/s. I can print smaller object without problem but these big parts are pain, already printed 3 parts of 4 and every of them have big problems lake some layer shifting and blobs everywhere. At evry part I tried to change some setting like outer wall speed or printing order (inner/outer/inner). This third part is worst and dont know what I can change to get decent print. Printer is freshly calibrated, belts are right tension. I’m lost, please send help.

PETG can be a bit of a PITA.

Good rules of thumb to get a good (but slower) print:

  • All speeds (except travel) to below 100mm/s,
  • accelerations down to 25-30% of defaults if small details are present,
  • enable all wipe’s,
  • non-crossing infill and surface patterns (like honeycomb and monotonic) and
  • of course dry the filament first (especially fresh from the bag, as you have done) and feel free to
  • use a few lines of glue stick, distributing the PVA evenly with a rather moist cloth.

:crossed_fingers:

PS: Further issues may of course still crop up. Some of these can be addressed further by locally reduced layer heights using adaptive layer height.

Thank you for your response,

I tried multiple things, changing speed, accelerations, temperature, cooling profiles etc… I spend about 1kg of filament for experimenting. There was some improving but nothing was just good.
Yesterday I just scrolling thru menus in slicer and looking at what I can try and then it hit me!!

Game changing setting - “Reduce infill retraction” which is on by default.

in this bigger print even I use gyroid infill, I saw sometimes blobbing which caused poor quality print and even extruder probably crashes to these cold and sturdy blobs and that caused these layer shifts!

Just by changing this setting print came out perfect, problem solved.
Hope this will help somebody desperate that have same problem as me.
Almost went crazy, I just cant sleep when something doesnt work and I dont know reason why.
