I am having similar problems. did you ever find a resolution?
Me too.
Is it a problem with Illustrator or with Bambu?
I’ve tried everything but just won’t work.
Please, someone…
3 screenshots:
one of the SVG file from Illustrator,
Two - how it appears imported in Bambu
Three - how it appears after slicing in Bambu
It should just be an outline but here it fills in the whole shape.
Everytime, it does a variation on not what I want!
I started playing with SVG Options when exporting from Illustrator.
Finally, the box - Decimal 3 worked for me (2 made parts disappear, 4 or 5 broke the shape up strangely).
The Decimal value represents the maths used to export your image. The lower the number the cruder the maths.
Ironically the higher values gave me worse results.
Hope this helps someone!
Did you find a 3 helped you every time? I have an svg I’m struggling with, it’s Cruella De Vil’s name but with Dalmatian spot and it keeps coming in as solid letters with the outline of the spot visible, but not translating or paintable…
I don’t think 3 is the answer to all SVG issues here though you could try variations on that number.
I presume you have done;
Type > Create Outlines for the text,
and then have deleted any (possibly invisible) shapes and lines.
You could also try cookie cut with Pathfinder, then Object > Ungroup, and get rid of all the unwanted pieces. (Check View>Outline to make sure everything invisible is deleted).
Or:
Do two separate SVGs - One with the outline and fill of the letters and another with just the spots.
In Bambu > Center
and then after colouring > Assembly.
Apologies if you’ve done this.
It’s a real game of hit-and-miss with SVG and Illustrator I have found.
my solution was not working with SVG lol
exported as dxf and then did the stuff in fusion 360
I’ve been struggling with this too and found this thread while googling it. The workaround I’ve found is this:
Then that SVG imports perfectly into Bambu Studio. I also have to do this same thing if I want to import an SVG into TinkerCAD. Something about dumbing the image down to purely the black and white pixels in a PNG and then having that made back into an SVG, makes it all work out. I kinda hate all the extra steps it takes. I wish I could get Illustrator just export a dead simple SVG.
I was having similar issues with SVG files in most slicers with files generated from the Android VectorMotion app, in my case the SVG was showing as a solid block. My workaround is currently to open the SVG file in Inkscape, right click on the design and release the clip. The saved SVG file can then be used in the slicer as intended.
