So, I’d been playing around using PETG as the final layer on supports when printing in PLA, and this has been working ok. However, I’ve come to problems when I need to also add a raft layer for a specific model I’m printing. For some reason - the slicer seems to be putting a layer of PETG between the top of the raft layer and the bottom of the supports for every support… of course, this means that the supports just end up failing as they’re not adequately stuck to the build plate (normally after about 24 hours of printing ). I’ve tried messing with all the settings in the slicer - but I can’t work out how to get it to stop putting this unnecessary layer of PETG in there. I’ve browsed the forums and wider Internet, but am struggling to find much useful information…
So, for example, here’s the view from the slicer set so it is showing the layer between the raft and the supports:
… and here’s the supports on top… (white is PLA, black is PETG):
Does anyone have any pointers on what settings I should be using to make sure that the supports are directly attached to the top of the raft layer without this layer of PETG getting in the way?? Is the only option to do the entire support/raft base layer as PETG too and forget about the PLA supports? Any advice gratefully received…
