I’ve seen this a few times, so just wanted to throw the note out there. @Tanklet, I hope you don’t mind me tagging you here, but I think ya’ll need to take this into consideration too, because part of this is a messaging problem on Bambu’s part. (The wiki shows it, but the youtube video doesn’t)
So, when doing a refill of Bambu filament, there’s an important step one should take to help prevent any Jams. Once the filament is on the spool, you want to press it down into the spool to help the filament seat properly and fill the gaps.
(Bambu has it on their wiki too)
It’s not super common, but I’ve seen enough people complain about jams with the refills, that I think it needs to be emphasized. There’s a thread on reddit right now talking about it, and no one is really talking about this all important step.
I did a search on youtube for bambu refill, and the two top videos, one of which was released by Bambu, doesn’t include this all important step. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MMZstVnBOY, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZMbYflpgQM)
So. I think jams are partly a user problem for not installing the refill properly, but I also think it’s a Bambu issue, because the messaging for that step isn’t clear enough, isn’t talked about enough. Even an updated pamphlet in the box for the refill might be good, to say remember to press it down, or whatever. For that matter, for the refill boxes, couldn’t you print the instructions on the box itself? That could be cool
For everyone else, just remember this step when doing your refills and it’ll help you avoid jams with your refills.
Thank you for taking the time to come to my PSA. Hopefully this helps you avoid any jam ups on the spool in the future!
