PSA — Check Your H2D Purge Wiper Assembly — Toolhead Damage Risk!

This thread does not give me confidence in Bambu’s ability to ship a future toolchanger if they can’t master a purge wiper.

Thanks for spending the time to report this disturbing assembly issue.
Not the BL experience that has made the brand so successful(!)

As a Bambu Lab potential customer I have not yet dropped my AU 3K plus on the H2D + AMS. And frankly I am underwhelmed BL did not give this obvious quality control/factory build issue much higher priority.
I think you had more than enough reason to have the printer exchanged without question.

I am leaving my purchase decision to near the end of the sale in the hope that early production issues have been resolved to minimise risk.
I can only hope that BL has reviewed their production line and QC processes to ensure this problem is not repeated.

It’s now November 2025 I hope this recurrent issue has been fixed.
I plan to purchase my H2D early Dec. But it still feels like rolling dice whether I will have issues or not.

I can’t see how the H2C (which is even more complex) will not have teething problems - unless BL considerably steps up Quality Control.

Fully agree - at the high price point there should be no poor assembly issues.
I expect when I upgrade to a BL H2D it performs to advertised specifications with no faults but after some research I have serious doubts!
It’s should not be up to the Customer to be the Quality Control Inspector and repair technician.

well my H2S just came like this and melted the side of the plastic on the shoot from the hotend, this was while loading in the filament for the 1st time on it. Opened a ticket and better get some extra warranty for this hassle.

yesterday i found out this same issue on my week old H2S. i am not sure it came like that from factory or some how happened during purge.. wonder if it going to happened again.

While mine came installed properly, I’ve noticed an issue with my nozzle wiper.

When the toolhead goes back to purge or clean the nozzle, everything works as expected, but when the toolhead moves away the rear lever (with 2 wheels) should pop back up, causing the nozzle wiper to fall back down into place. However, mine gets stuck for a second or so, then plonks back down. I feel it’s getting stuck at the lever end at the back. Any ideas?

Yes mine was like that, the corner of the lever sticks against the rear wall of the purge basket

You can access it just by removing the top cover inside the printer (3 screws). Take note or make a picture how the levers and springs are installed but it’s not complicated.

I started by filing a bit that corner (no improvement could even make things worse) but the solution was simply to put a little grease on that lever corner, no sticking since

Cheers bud - I’m trying to avoid taking it out as my printer backs into a corner and moving it is a pain! lol. I’ll try a small bit of grease though - I think that may do the trick!

Thanks!

Yep, it’s accessible from the front as the cover is inside the chamber

The next time I have to remove the rear cover I may try heating the basket location at the lever corner location to give it some ckearance

I just signed up to thank the original OP for this write-up. It ended up being my problem on a new H2C. Didn’t notice it at all during setup. Calibration went fine. A couple prints were good, but then I heard how long it was banging the chute and felt it couldn’t be right. It definitely added some undue wear to a brand new machine. I do feel like Bambu Lab should offer something for this and will still write them. Even though it’s a hassle, I’m considering returning the machine over it even though it seems to be working well now.

Anyway, thanks so much. I was going nuts.

Thank you for this, had mine for over a year and 1000+ hrs of printing when it suddenly started slamming into the assembly.

I lucked out in that the only damage appears to have been the flow blocker, but it sounded so much worse, and was oddly inconsistent.

Very glad someone posted about their own experiences to narrow this down so quickly once the issue arose.

I wanted to come back to this thread and say something I probably should have said a long time ago.

When I originally posted this PSA, I honestly had no idea it would help so many people. I was simply trying to document what happened to my machine, warn others before they experienced the same failure, and hopefully save someone from unnecessary damage, downtime, or frustration.

Seeing the number of replies, confirmations, photos, fixes, and shared experiences over the past year-plus has been unbelievable. I’m genuinely grateful to everyone who contributed, tested, explained, documented, and helped other users identify the issue. This is exactly what a strong community looks like.

At the same time, I have to be honest: it is incredibly disappointing that this issue appears to have persisted for so long. What started as a warning about a purge wiper assembly problem should not still be something owners are discovering the hard way, especially after this much visibility and community documentation. Even more concerning is seeing similar concerns continue into the newer H2-series machines. As someone who is also a customer of those machines, that is frustrating.

I still believe Bambu makes impressive printers. That is part of why this bothers me so much. A machine can be innovative, fast, and capable while still having a mechanical issue that needs to be acknowledged and properly addressed. Users should not have to rely on forum posts, community photos, and unofficial checks to catch a problem that can damage the toolhead.

To everyone who found this thread useful: I’m glad it helped. To everyone who added their own experience or helped another user avoid damage: thank you. And to Bambu: please take this seriously, not just as isolated user error or assembly variance, but as a design/quality-control issue that deserves a clear, official response and a lasting fix.

This thread has shown that the community is paying attention, willing to help, and willing to document problems carefully. I hope the same level of attention is met on the manufacturer side.
