Just a reminder to make really good sure that your reusable spools are LOCK closed! I have about about a half used roll of black PLA on a spool that apparently I didn’t lock closed. It came apart in the middle of a print. Didn’t do any damage that I can see other than the filament falling off the roll and being an absolute pain to try to fix.
This happened to me, unfortunately it was nearly a full spool. How the hell do I fix this? I can’t crush it back together, the filament spread out.
Do I have to rewind all ~300m of it? How?
Happened to me with about 500 grams of 95A tpu, I gave up untangling it after 2 days
The simplest respooler I’ve used is this one. Fits on the end of a drill. Took about 15 minutes to respool onto an empty spool.

There are many more much fancier respoolers out there but they take some time to build and forethought.
That looks great. I found this one too. Printables
That photo was helpful - it made me realise I could have it unspool off the axle of my Sovol SV06 Plus spool holder. Only thing is, it’s in very rough shape and is likely to fall off the spool holder as it gets pulled off and unspooled.
But a plan is slowly forming. Thanks!
And when you’re done respooling, use one of these to lock the spool in place (I printed it on its side rather than as shown by the designer). Works great.
