I had already ordered it.
Seeing the support for rotary axis in the new firmware, I immediately checked out availability in the Bambu store.

You slowly reach a point where you want to ask yourself what causes more damage⌠Not selling your own accessories (or selling fewer) or annoying customers⌠^^
Basically, itâs a knock-off of every other rotary tool (what else could be so different), such as xTool. If they simply started supporting third-party accessories, they could potentially secure customers before they run away.
Just like how it feels like 70% of all filament colours are constantly sold out. Then open up the NFC standard. Youâll probably sell less filament, but customers wonât feel like theyâre being taken for a ride

I still believe that it would have been better to abandon the venture into laser technology and continue investing existing resources in the companyâs core business. Bug fixes for 3D printers now take several months to completeâŚ

The Open NFC is going to be interesting. It reverses the Bambu advantage.
Instead of getting Bambu owners to buy their filament, being incompatible means owners of other brand printers will prefer to NOT buy Bambu filament.
I wonder if at some point it will be better for Bambu Lab to adopt it on their filament to market it for all smart multi-material systems

I honestly donât think Bambu is targeting filament sales to people with other brands of printers.

which open nfc, every brand is coming up with their own, so there is actually no standard at all, just brands like prusa or elegoo creating their own and saying itâs open - which is true, but if there isnât a single standard that all brands adopt it doesnât matter that itâs open
yeah i have that feeling as well, there is enough demand from bambu owners as it is, seeing that there are very often stock limitations

They definitely can improve their stock management a bit better. Especially when they are getting close to a large sales discount.
On the other hand, their sales probably was much larger than anticipated. Ramping up production on a short term is not very easy.
We worked a long time ago for a phone manufacturer, and when they launched a new product, it was very difficult to determine if it would be a fast runner or not.
Pre-production of a lot of tooling for components which eventually are not used is a waste of money.
On the other hand when itâs an unexpected fast runner, it takes time to create that tooling. Customers then go to a phone store and ask for their popular phone, and when itâs not in stock, they might leave the shop with a phone of the competition.
So they setup a rapid tooling project, where an injection mold could be produced within a week from design to finished mold. We eventually managed to get it in 10 days with 2 shifts, so in a 3 shift production it would eventually fit into a week.
Bambu is probably facing similar issues. And I am sure they donât choose for this approach.
Looking at the late delivery of the rotary tool, I am sure this could have been much earlier, but competition on tool changers (U1 and INDX) messed up their original planning.
What do you mean by âshort-termâ?
Theyâve always had filament shortages (especially when it comes to PETG HF). But at the moment, itâs ridiculous when 80% of a type is simply not available.
Above all, itâs annoying when you want to remain loyal to âyour brandâ and constantly have to switch to something else. Or when they offer nice discounts, but you canât even get the quantity you need because thereâs simply not enough stuff available.
I donât know if it was a good idea to launch four printers onto the market within a very short period of time and then take months to deliver on all the promises made.
When it comes to bug fixes, the firmware releases simply has to be faster.
As a software developer, Iâm also rather fascinated by how a rotary tool for the H2 series has to be customised for each of the three printers to such an extent that you have to start from scratch with the firmware for each printer.
One would think that âactivate laser and rotate rotary by X degreesâ would not differ so greatly from H2D to H2C or H2S⌠I would be really interested in gaining some technical insight into such a development

This was more related to the Machines itself. For the Filaments, they should by now have a good supply chain in place. And thatâs what I said, if you start a Black Friday or other sale, they must make sure they have enough stock.
I do prefer to use Bambu Filaments, but have no issue moving to others if pricing is demanding.
Regarding the development of the firmware for the Rotary Tool, I am sure the the coming H2C release will contain the same update.
I donât know if the H2S will get a beta also, or that they mainly integrate the same code into the H2S firmware without Beta field testing. They have to test for sure, but not so much the code, but more the integration.
Prusa announced it at their yearly thing. Open sourced and universal(for non locked down ecosystems or whoever wnats to implement it on their closed system. Im imagining it will use some sort of usb scanner. They also have a beautiful new UI coming for prusaslicer.
I could have had mine in already on Thursday, but switching to a delivery point messed up the planning of UPS somehow. Mine will be there on Monday if I am lucky.

mine arrived on Thursday made a cup for my daughter and it seems to work well, this is with the 40w laser.

Itâs awesome! Did you use the 10w laser or the 40w one? I opened Bambu Suite and for some reason it states that itâs not compatible with the 10w laser but on their page and wiki they have all pictures with the 10w laser in the settings. Weird.

it was with the 40w one, but my first attempt (which was something very basic that i didnât like how it turned out) was with the 10w one, so it is compatible (i did need to update the laser firmware, so make sure you didnât skip that one)

Will try it. I did not update it yet and instead just looked at the software side so see if there was something new. Also on the H2S at the moment. As soon as i update the laser firmware, iâll give some feedback.

yeah it was just a poor design choice mainly 
but i also noted that in the engraving itself, it looks kind of iridescent instead of the metal gray, i think it needs to have a bit more power than the default settings
You just burn away the outer layer of the tumbler (normally some plastic), 10W will do the job just perfectly.
I made most of my Tumblers with the xTool F1, 10W blue diode (and 2W infrared diode to clean up the stainless steel after burning away the outer layer )
