It does its final ship in the US from a US warehouse. We are not directly responsible for the tariff, just indirectly. The problem is the printers are on their way to the US now. Has the duty been applied already, or is it applied when it comes into port? It could change how much is collected on the shipment. Bambu sold the printers at price X based on tariff X, but now tariff X is 100X.

Duties are collected as the package transits customs. The carrier may pay it on your behalf or customs may bill you directly. These are taxes that you have to pay. I think if customs bills you that you can refuse to pay but you lose the package. If the carrier bills you and you don’t pay, since they already paid on your behalf they have lots of power to extract that payment.

But if any of that is important to anyone, verify it with customs.

Yes - if the printer has made it to a Bambu warehouse in the US, tariffs have been paid. You won’t be charged again (unless Bambu decides to charge customers for the tariff as a separate line item to keep it out of the printer price).

In this kind of climate with tariffs changing day to day and by large amounts, IMO it’s a huge gamble to order anything that will need to cross a border to enter the country right now. The penalty for non-payment may be onerous and the tariff might be very high.

I believe the prices from yesterday were based on a measly 54% tariff. Since then it has been raised slightly to 124/125% and tomorrow might bring new surprises. What is the estimated delivery date on printers ordered yesterday? Because if it keeps increasing at this steady rate I would be surprised if Bambu will actually import pre-ordered printers. At that point the tariff might be higher than what you actually paid for the pre order, so why not just reimburse or postpone? We’ll see, but I doubt Bambu will run away with your money and not deliver anything. Sadly nobody knows what is going to happen

The printer I ordered yesterday has an estimated ship date of May 9, 2025. I would imagine that would be the date it ships from the US warehouse but where it is now, I don’t have a clue.

I bought three P1S in last September when Biden Admin finalized Trump’s 1st term China tariff. It was $599 each.

I’d say it still is in China, couple weeks on the boat, arriving in US end of April, customs clearance and tariffs taken care of by Bambu unless the rates are absurdly high, onto their warehouse and ready to ship to you. Because you bought it from their US warehouse you shouldn’t get a bill for the customs but if Bambu is with their back against the wall with a 500% tariff it would be not financially sound to import and deliver. Maybe they will because it concerns just a couple hundred machines, maybe they will ship through the UK resulting in a longer delivery time but lower tariff, maybe they will postpone delivery until one of the monarchs concedes to the other or maybe they will try to reimburse. Again, who knows. I hope you will just get your printer though!

This is what the cool kids here are buying instead of that.

Didn’t see any good deals at Sunlu, but I bought a bunch of their new HS marble flavors anyway.

You asked someone to ā€˜name one field they accel in’.

I replied with 37/44 tracked technical fields that they are leading in (as of 2023).

And your response to that is ā€˜I work in the field’.

Now I understand.

I realize it is a first-world problem, thus not really a burden, but i imagine others may be experiencing similar thought processes and are frustrated with the status quo.

Note the Amazon one is PETG-HS.

Being and old cynic, I have to wonder if part of this wasn’t aimed at what has happened with the stock market, the market tanks, someone buys up stock at low price, then a ā€œ90 day holdā€ is declared on a lot of the tariffs, the market does a 9 to 12 % rebound (talking US here) and surprise, someone made a bunch of money on at least some of the stocks they picked up… yes, I know, it’s a not totally controlable gamble, but if it doesn’t work out you can probably (edit- write) right the losses off on your taxes.

The problem is supply chains for physical product can’t turn on and off like that.

For example some ships have offloaded early as the party responsible for the cargo delivery indicated they would rather sacrifice the shipment than pay tarrif.

Can you give me a good deal website?

Um, i usually hit up something like Slickdeals.net and turn on notifications for keywords like pla, filament, petg…etc. I think one just came up yesterday for the Elegoo Rapid PLA 4 spool for like $43 or something i believe on Amazon. I picked up a 2pk of TecBears PETG for like $19. For some reason my P1S from factory was set a hair close to the bed than my P1P becuz Prusament, Bambu Lab PETG HF and a few others work great on my P1P and A1, but terrible on my P1S, like the nozzle is too close, tends to end up caking up on the nozzle and instead of re-tramming my bed (becuz when i need good adhesion i can count on this printer like no other) I found that TecBear, Kingroon and Giant Arm work flawless. Not sure why but I dont question it, i just stick with what works so im always looking for deals on those. My P1S loves the cheaper stuff apparently lol

I think what @Thud-oops was referring to was stock market manipulation and not really anything to do with actual goods. That’s way bigger than any shipment of products.

Doubt he’ll ever face charges but he announced that people should ā€œbuyā€ on truth social and then a few hours later rescinded all the additional tariffs down to 10% while raising China’s to 125%. Was he intentionally manipulating the market?

Market manipulation is tolerated and expected, despite what the books say. You basically have to spy on someone to get prosecuted for it, and they seem more worried about the corporate espionage part of it.

Market manipulation, intentional or otherwise was my focus. And it would be very hard to prove or prosecute, even more so when you have a big thumb on the process that would actually do that. I am not suggesting that would be the only reason for the tariffs, I am sure there is a lot of other madness behind the method. Posturing being a big one and as long as people and goverments keep admiring the emperors spiffy new outfit it’s pretty affective (and effective).

The tarifs for US customers will be over latest on 3rd November 2026 when there are elections. Before they will just import from Canada.

Are you saying that Bambu Lab is going to start making them in Canada?
