I wanted to ask you if it is possible to publish your works with posts and videos on social networks such as Instagram and Facebook, leaving the link to my model and my profile.
Is it in line with what is permitted by the regulation?
Its a good question, at the moment there is no targeted guidelines prohibiting the inwards links. I see there is an “advertising links” policy stating you cannot use them inside MakerWorld pages, typically the language is ambiguous and can change. That said, plenty of people spruik their models on facebook etc and are successful.
The only risk would be if you get a massive influx and it flags your model. In my opinion it is ok to advertise if its sensible and you’re not spamming everywhere.
my goal would be to create an Instagram page on which I publish my works, but I would like to be sure because I wouldn’t want them to block my profile.
I share my work on Reddit, Instagram and Discord all the time. You’re using your social media accounts to drive traffic to MakerWorld. Nothing wrong with that at all.
I will say that I did this… had a spike in downloads and got hit with a 30 day point redemption suspension. So just make sure you already average a good number of downloads daily before you post a good model and get folks coming for it.
I just got a one year ban because of abnormal downloads. I have appealed it because I haven’t even been online in the last 3 days on Makerworld, but my model was on the homepage of the slicer- maybe THAT had something to do with the uptick in downloads, or maybe that several of my models were trending and people tend to download all of a user’s files if they like one of them, or maybe someone tagged me on IG, but now I’m just really annoyed with Makerworld in general. I can’t even download ANYONE ELSE’S models.
The uptick in downloads should flag a model (as there is a spam problem) but I think they should defer any action until they have time to measure the “Print” metric for a day. If someone gets a few hundred d/l’s the next assumption would be a certain amount of prints, not under 25% to be legitimate (they’d have a better idea from their data).
Of course this is purely wishful thinking out loud. Reality is its random at the moment and BL should figure it out quickly as there is a number of failures on both ends of the problem.
I also had a similar experience in a local group where I shared a gardening marker model, and some people (around 10) downloaded it. As a result, I received a one-year ban. The appeal was not accepted. I had only accumulated 123 points so far with just 2 uploads.
I understand that they have to act strictly, but for 10 downloads 1 year ban?
My account was restored the day after I submitted an appeal- I additionally complained that I couldn’t send prints to my printer because Makerworld is connected to your Bambu account, which is not appropriate. The two accounts should not be treated the same, and denying a user access to a machine I purchased with those functions advertised was probably illegal.
My appeal has been rejected, so I’ve been banned for 1 year due to 10 downloads. I’ve only had the printer for a week, but I’d rather return it. Currently, I can’t use the ecosystem I paid for (including Makerword). I understand if they reset the points or perhaps limit it to a week or maybe 30 days, although in this case, it doesn’t seem justified, but one year is nonsense.
That makes no sense at all. Tell them you’re returning the printer because you can’t use the upload function, which is an advertised function of the printer when it was purchased, and Makerworld should NOT be associated with the function of your printer! I haven’t even been uploading to MW since that happened, instead I started a Patreon and my MW account is just sitting. Start a support ticket with an appeal, that’s an option in the MW support tickets. I both appealed when I got the notification AND started a support ticket. I got more replies through the ticket than I did the appeal.
