I do not do much in the way of multi-color prints so maybe the shape has been different for a while but that is minor.
How do I stop the purge tower from hanging over the edge of the build plate and throwing an error.
Right now I just move it onto the plate and all is well.
Seems like the act of slicing it would position the tower completely on the plate rather than hanging off the edge.
If you hit the “arrange” button before slicing it will correct this, or you can just manually move the tower onto the plate.
I have just moved the tower but it seems to me that the program should be written well enough that it doesn’t happen.
I’m really asking why does it even occur, ever?
What I’ve noticed is that if I have multiple colors, BEFORE I slice, the standard tower shows on the build plate.
AFTER slicing, the shape and dimensions of the tower are transformed.
IMO, that is a bug. Low concern but a bug just the same. It is that shape change and the brim that take it over the edge. I didn’t set a brim so why a brim.
My Bambu Studio acts crazy with the purge tower after this newest update as well… If I tell it not to do a rib wall, and want it to do the older style of purge tower, it goes insane and doubles or triples the length of the tower. I miss the old one.
You can manually adjust the purge tower’s size but wow that is a cursed screenshot.
The width you can - which you can see I already did - but the length of it you cannot.
Is that before or after slicing? That is crazy.
I get the old style tower pre-slice then that unusual shape after slicing.
Things like this should be explained way better than BL does currently. Now you get a firmware update with description “Corrected tower problem causing some users trouble.”
I’ve been on this forum for just shy of a year and I do not recall a single complaint such that it would require an overhaul of the purge tower logic.
You can tell pretty easily what is a discrete user problem, and one created by BL by the quantity of complaints generated.
Yes, I can move the tower, or one can enable rim walls, but why are we having to do that at all? Historically, everyone has been churning out prints just fine. In my case for just shy of a year.
I just got my P1S the other day and had this oddity show up on my first print attempt. I had no idea what the extra block of ‘print’ was that was extending 10cm off my build plate. I poked around and figured out I could move it. After the first print, I figured out what it was, but still have no idea why it defaults to extending off the plate. Maybe there’s a default that I messed up somewhere?
Nah its looking more like a bug.
To date I have had no reason to deviate from the default setting programmed into the printer (P1S), Bambu Studio, or Bambu Handy with the exception of supports occasionally. I’ve made multi-colored prints and got the rectangular tower comprised of the various colors.
The Tower has existed as long as I’ve had my printer (approx. 1 year) but it has only changed since I think 01.08.01 I believe.
The entire concept that the slicing process may require my manual intervention is messed up because the tower is created by the software, not the user. Single color, no tower. Multi-color gets you the tower.
The code that creates the tower should never generate a tower that hangs off the 256mm boundary lines. Before doing a slice it still builds the rectangular tower. Post slicing the tower is converted to a different shape and it occasionally creates a tower that hangs off the edge of the 256mm x 256mm boundary that is built into the firmware. That throws an error and the “fix” is to manually reposition the tower??
