"Purged filament may have piled up.." error, but no clog?

I got an error for the first time of “Purged filament may have piled up” but the cute is empty, and there’s nothing stuck anywhere. I’m printing a file I got off of Makerworld (Mini Hallowe’en Buckets with Thinner Walls). I am printing a single orange bucket with a filament change to black as a test print before I do a whole plate full of them. I looked over the settings and there’s nothing odd that I can find - the only thing is that it’s using detect thin walls, which I’ve never used before. I thought at first that it might be related to changing filament, but I’ve watched it switch a few times without the error coming up.
Any ideas? I’d like to figure out how to prevent it so I can do an overnight print. I’ve gone through the other threads about it, and didn’t find anything that applies - I don’t have any new lights in the area, and nothing has changed in the area around my printer. Both are filaments I’ve used before.
Thanks to anyone who can think of anything to try!

Did you check the poop chute and around the extruder and up into the sock? If it cleared, did you find a wad of plastic?

I’m so curious aboult this statement. Can you elaborate?

BTW, I think MZip is correct. Piled up and then dropped in the chute. It happens.

Is the red LED blinking in the chute? It’s checking to see if it gets a return pulse from the LED receiver.

If it doesn’t, it thinks the chute is clogged up with poop.

I’ve noticed a lot about my printer. I am almost ashamed to admit I’ve never paid attention to lights. Never noticed them.

 yeah it’s more than just a light show. They are telling a story.

I think you misunderstand. Had no idea any lights were visible.

I troubleshoot by listening, watching, error codes. What bothers me is that I’ve never seen any lights. Maybe because I have a P1 and I just realized this is in the X forum.

I’ve only noticed a light on the AP board, and that was after installing the 2nd one.

Ok, took your advice and paused the print and looked all around the extruder, under the sock, on the back of the nozzle, and couldn’t find anything. The purged stuff all looks like regular coils.
Then I started it back up and noticed something really odd - when it’s purging, it’s very close to the front of the purge chute, so it’s sticking to the chute for a few seconds, and then it cools and drops off. It’s almost as if the nozzle alignment is a few millimeters forward than it used to be. I looked at the little lines it prints for the flow dynamics and sure enough it looks like those are about 4mms closer to the edge of the plate than they should be.
So uh…new problem! Anyone know what could cause my nozzle to shift forward by 4mm? :grimacing:

A bent nozzle! Maybe! Xxxxxxxxxx

Oh god I hope not, I just replaced it two weeks ago!!! Though at least that would be a relatively easy fix…I’ll take the dang thing apart and look for a bend!

I didn’t know they would bend but there was another person here who had the back beginning of extrusion move off the build plate. Bent nozzle.

But I think you and Barry have solved it!

Haha sure enough. Second nozzle I’ve ever bent! Now to swap it out and figure out whether I can straighten it and use it again. Can’t stand to throw out a 2 week old part! Thanks everyone!

I have noticed a few “bent nozzle” problems in the forum over the last couple of weeks.

Coincidence, possibly,

I’ve been meaning to ask anyone else if they’ve ever had that issue.

I straightened out my nozzle, btw, it was very easy with a small vice and pair of flat nosed pliers. Managed to break my thermistor though, so now I’m waiting on a new cable, sigh. That’ll learn me not to have extras on hand!

I have only bent one nozzle since October 2022. I started another print without clearing the previous print.
