I’ve been working on a new design for a few weeks, and decided to upgrade to BambuStudio 2.
I noticed a huge drop in quality for the first layer of a technically special slice. By that I mean… what I’m doing is a bit unique but should still be within the printers capabilities, but may be filament-dependent in terms of how well it comes out.
I’m printing a thin feature - 0.1mm thick part - and ironing that layer - with a 0.4mm nozzle. ALL of my test prints with v1 came out identically. I updated my software to 2, and this first layer started to print horribly - the individual extrusions now have a gap between them. I installed 1 back on my computer (alongside 2) and printed - it printed as before.
I reviewed the default settings - but nothing changed between the two besides the version of BambuStudio.
Obviously, it is a newer version and filament settings have changed - but comparing those besides the new ramming parameter, nothing else seems to be different.
I can’t share my 3mf, though I suppose I could design a test file. To sum it up:
Problem : Bambu Studio print quality degradation Studio Version : 2.0.1.50 Platform : MacOS Steps to reproduce :
Create a new file, add a primitive cube, scale to .1mm high
initial layer height to 0.1mm
0.4mm nozzle
Smooth PEI Plate/HighTemp Plate, no glue
PLA Clear/natural
Generic PLA profile
Arachne wall generator
Turn ironing on, All Solid Layers
Use the 0.2mm standard profile
A1 Combo (low hours, ~95)
Plate: Bambu Smooth PEI Plate/HighTemp Plate (no glue)
Material: PLA natural + PLA white
Part: 0.1mm thick
Overridden settings: 0.1mm first layer height, Ironing turned on for all solid surfaces
Printer reset? I’m wondering what you mean - I don’t see how resetting the printer/calibration would fix this (but I’m willing to try).
And - yes - downgrading fixes the issue… but I can’t reliably expect users to downgrade to v1 if they want to print this with the same quality in v2, I may have to rethink this design… but I was pretty excited with my results.
In the physical printer settings their should be a factory reset. I think that’s what he means.
I did a factory reset of mine, and after the fresh update a lot of problems worked out. There is still some stuff going on though. Cant quite put my finger on it.
i have 2 printers p1s. One of them have big problems printing. First layer looks like ■■■■ in the corners. In the middle looks good, but when i´m printing my design, the quality is horrible, like printing with a 3d pen… o.O
after many times auto calibration i testet manual calibration. better results in testprinting but horrible print my normal files…
After downgrading the print quality was better but not good.
I’ve manually calibrated the bed many times. The last thing that helped me, was heating the bed to 60 degree and calibrating the bed in hot condition. Enter that I printed test layers and calibrated manually without g code.
Now I have perfect first layer and very good printing results again.
The new bambulab slicer software destroyed the hole calibration of the printer.
make sure your deleting all the old data from your preferences folder, depending on what OS you’re using. You dont have to delete, just name it *.old in case you want to revert.
After I did that, 2.0* and the hotfix update has made everything fine for me.
I was really into using 1.9, but I decided to update to the new hotfix and its been good.
