Question about Feeding Behavior on P1 Series

Hello,

I have a question regarding the Feeding process on the P1 series.
Specifically, when loading filament from an external spool, the “Done” button is being skipped.

Previously, when performing Feeding → Load on the printer screen, I remember that I could finish or retry the process by pressing “Done” or “Retry.”
However, this time, during loading, neither button appeared — the printer simply skipped that step and finished by wiping the nozzle on the wiper.

For testing, I tried the following two cases:

  1. Loading after feeding the filament up to the filament sensor in the extruder.
  2. Pressing Load first, then feeding the filament until it reached the filament sensor.

In case ①, the process skipped without showing Done or Retry.
In case ②, both Done and Retry buttons appeared as expected.

Additionally, after loading using case ①, I experienced an issue where no filament was extruded during printing.
When I manually heated the nozzle and activated the extruder to load the filament again, extrusion worked normally afterward.
I’m wondering if this issue occurred because the filament might not have been properly inserted into the extruder during the first loading attempt.

I’m also curious whether this change in sequence was introduced after the recent firmware update,
or if it’s simply something I haven’t noticed before since I usually use the AMS and rarely load from an external spool.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Halo_Cherry

I also found that the same symptom occurs on the X1 series as well.
My X1 printer was updated when firmware 01.10.00.00 was first released.
Therefore, I carefully assume that this may not be firmware-related, but rather a system-level change.

System level changes are firmware. Not wanting to get into a debate about software vs firmware, I had not finished reading your initial question and thought "Well that sounds like they’ve changed the firmware/software and you confirmed it with the second post saying the X1 had the same change.
