Question about gluing and cracking of the plate

I am currently reading up on the wiki to learn how to use my High Temperature Plate.

According to the Introduction to the Build Plates | Bambu Lab Wiki, it mentions that the sheet may crack if adhesive is not used.

I am curious about the reason behind this. Wouldn’t the lack of adhesive simply cause my print to fail because it doesn’t stick to the plate? Why would it destroy my sheet?

I would like to know the rationale behind it better, so I understand when it is acceptable to print without adhesive.

Thanks.

Some filaments may stick to the plate too well, in which case the plate may be damaged while removing the print, or possibly even if the print and the plate shrink at different rates during cooling.

Glue is used not only to improve adherence to the plate, but also to serve as a release agent.

When in doubt, I use glue.
