Question about which connection for AMS Pro 2

For those who have/are printing TPU on their H2D printer, which hotend are you using for TPU (left or right)? I’ve seen a couple of videos which claim the printer will not allow you to use the hotend to print TPU and just wanted to confirm if this is accurate. If so, then am I correct you are connecting your AMS to the left hotend and TPU to the right?

Right (static) nozzle, manual load with the bypass.

So then the only way to print multi-color with TPU is to reconnect the AMS to the left hotend?

Regular flexible TPU is not AMS compatible, and can only be used in the right nozzle so you can not do multi color 85A, 90A and 95A prints. That soft TPU will get stuck in the gears of the AMS and the filament buffers, you have to feed it directly into the extruder though the special bypass hole. You can do multi colour TPU prints with TPU for AMS but its 68D, very hard material.

I wasn’t clear in my previous post… My reference to multi-color was using PLA or PETG, not TPU.

Yes only right hot end for TPU, left only for PPA/PPS. If you try to print those materials using the wrong hot end you will get an error. My AMS is connected to the right stationary nozzle as it has less moving parts, so its recommended to use it for the majority of you printing. I will have AMS HT connected to the left nozzle when it arrives. I also have an internal splitter on the right nozzle so I dont have to mess with PTFE tubes when I print TPU, it has a second PTFE tube that goes though the bypass hole to the external spool.
