The 3rd item on the contest Terms and Conditions says:
“3. By entering the contest, you agree to keep your model posted on MakerWorld for at least one year. If you remove your design before the end of that year, the MakerWorld team reserves the right to repost it.”
I am just asking, but is it possible to modify it a little? as:
- By entering the contest, you agree to keep your model posted on MakerWorld for at least one year. If you remove your design before the end of that year, points awarded to the model will be deducted from your account.
Most of the time, people will choose to keep the model in because it already owned points. But just in case someone wants to forgo the points and take the model elsewhere, I think it’s not unfair to allow the creator the chance to do so, particulary if the model didn’t win anything. At that point, all the creator owed to Makerworld is the points awarded to the model (model, print profile, downloads).
Good point DW, our team will discuss it over and come up with a more maker-friendly term and condition. However, we do think that if a model is selected as one of the contest winners, the term not to remove the model from MakerWorld should be applied.

Agree. If an entry won one of the top 3 prizes which received substantial awards, it’s reasonable to have them committed to post here free for one year. The other 12 participation award entries, along with entries that didn’t win any award, probably should not have to commit to be available for free so that creators can try to monetize them somewhere else should they choose to.
The other alternative will be to allow all contest entries, regardless if they won or not, to have the option to be taken down voluntarily, and have all the awards and points deducted from the creator’s account. Obviously most will choose to remain free here since monetizing is not easy. It’s also understandable that this is not an easy decision for MW to make since deducting points will raise more questions, such as if points should be deducted from contest entries, then should non-contest entries also be required to remain here free for the same period of time to keep their points.
