Rant on posting to Makerworld

My models barely get any traffic, like 3-4 views a day on average. Maybe the problem is the content, people are just not interested, i’m posting things that serve an actual purpose. Or maybe the problem is something else i don’t know.

The model that have the most downloads/boosts are the ones who posted in the early days. There are so many models on Makerworld that new additions get buried so deep in the search results that they almost disappear. You get an influx of views the first day when you post but when it’s no longer at the top on the “new models” page, it dies down quickly.

Maybe the search algorithm should be revised to favor new creations, not older than a few weeks, not just the most popular to give a chance for these models to be found.

Anyway, i don’t think it’s worth the time and effort to post new models.

Well, I’d say your in a small niche…but maybe it just me.

I’ve never seen a Gridfinity wall mount before.
Mine fit in a drawer.

Can you please post a link to you makerworld account so I can take a look.

Usually it takes a bit of time to get momentum and once that happens and the model is popular, you start seeing results.

Very important to have all the relevant keywords on the models and nice photos.

Sorry you feel that way, You have pretty nice stuff, unfortunately I don’t need any thing like you are makeing right now but some day I might. Give it time, it appears that you haven’t been here that long.

Try to add some more keywords to all your models. To get good traffic just like with website SEO you need to optimize the search keywords on your model as thats is how people find them primarily. You can also post them on reddit as “show and tell” to get some traffic and eyeballs on them.

Any link to the proper reddit channel? Thanks.

Just the official Bambu reddit.

Try creating something original — you don’t need to reinvent the wheel, but also avoid making things that a million others could easily do.

Also, always try to join contests; it’s one of the best ways to get noticed, especially when you’re just starting out.

Good luck!

Yes, I looked at your (bfrigon) stuff and I don’t want to be negative but creativity & originality plays a big part in something being popular.
For me there are tons of items similar to most of yours and as for some of the functional stuff I just create my own.
