Bambulab should not require an image of a print for CC0 licences. Perhaps someone simply wants to place an STL under CC0 so that anyone can use it and process it further. And without paying attention to whether it is printable. This should not be made more difficult.
It should be possible to specify whether a file (design) is printable or not. If yes, then only with a real proof photo. If not, it does not need a real photo and should not be able to upload a photo / image; instead, Makerworld should automatically generate a 3D preview (like in Bambu Studio) and insert it as an image or moving GIF (multiple preview images in case of multiple plates), also it is not directly printable and a warning appears on the model page that it is a design whose quality is not confirmed in print. The designer can select an image from the automatically generated preview as the cover image (or something similar). Designs that are not confirmed as printable should not take part in competitions and should not receive points for prints. I’m not sure if points should be given for downloads.
Given Makerworld’s recent policy shift towards mandatory image uploads, it’s unlikely they’ll reverse this decision. Regardless of license type, image uploads are now compulsory. Your scenario seems to diverge from Makerworld’s commitment to a seamless, user-centric printing experience.
Ok, but you give up any and all point earnings, you also get deprioritized in searchings, listings…etc
I don’t see how people think Makerworld is/should just another file dumping ground, there are plenty of places for that across the web for such things.
I don’t think MakerWorld is that right place for that. Considering how many people whom are new to 3D Printing are in this community and the way MakerWorld works, being able to print from your mobile phone. I think it’s good models are tested before being published.
