Real-time G-code Monitoring During Printing: Is it Possible?

As I’m troubleshooting an issue, I’m wondering if there’s a way to view the G-code while it’s being executed on the printer. Is there a method or tool that allows real-time monitoring of the G-code during printing? Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

There is currently no way of monitoring the gcode as it executes on the printer. The only option is to use the “Preview” tab in Bambu Studio and view the simulation line by line by using the bottom slider. The left and right error keys can be used to step through each line.

Ok. It would help a lot to see the G-code live during printing and to execute the printing step by step.

This was a default feature in octoprint which I do miss. However there’s so much good about everything in the bambu universe that I can easily live without it.

The preview tab can still be useful though as JonRaymond said. Left and right arrows will step through the individual lines of gcode in a layer, and up and down will step through the layers. that should help a bin in troubleshooting

Yes, i’ve been spoiled by Octoprint for several years and the most valuable plugin for me was “Pretty gcode viewer” I monitored my prints in Octoprint rather through this plugin instead with the implemented camera. This is a thing i really miss in bambustudio and Bambu hndy app. Is there no way to include something like that in the software.

The PrettyGCode plugin for Octoprint is pretty much the killer app of Octoprint for me. It shows you in 3D the a render of the model being printed in sync with the actual print happening on the printer.

It seems like it would be relatively trivial to implement. Bambu Studio is already reporting back to you what layer you’re on, and there is a 3D gcode render in Bambu Studio already, as seen on the Preview Tab. You can even use the bottom slider on there to simulate the nozzle traveling around extruding filament. Seems it would be more than possible to have the option to see a render in sync with the current layer, maybe where the camera view is on the Device tab while printing.
