Hello,
yesterday I suddenly saw supporting trees with rectangular instead of round cross sections. Does anybody know the reason?
By the way, the tree shapes seems to be unique and random each time, even when there a two identical surfaces which need support (in the same print, at the same level) the trees are different. Is it inspired by chance?
That would be hybrid supports.
As noted those are supports and the default is Tree.
I prefer Normal style but that has to do with what is being supported.
As far as different supports for what looks like a duplicate overhang or similar, slicing creates a sort of map to navigate around a model as it is being printed and so the movement of the nozzle tip factors into how the layer gets printed. When it sliced a model you can select various attributes to visualize.
Travel moves are off by default but you can turn them on to see how the nozzle moves around the print. Tree shape is not just random but calculated during slicing. When nozzle runs to a layer start position varies layer by layer.
Nozzle doesn’t start at the same X, Y layer every step up so tree shape will be different
