After the first layer I see the color change order is: 2,1,1,2 With the middle two colors doing one layer and the ends two each time. 1, 1, 1, 1-2 then: 2, 2, 2-3 in reverse order. 3,3,3-4 etc
It seems to me that a great deal of color changing could be eliminated by doing 1,1,1,1-2 first layer then
2-3, 2-3, 2-3, 3-4
4-5, 4-5, 4-5, 5-6
This way every color is done twice per color change reducing the total color changes significantly.
Watching the color changing and contemplating things…

Interesting, didn’t know that was there. But it doesn’t address the less efficient color swaps.
The middle colors are still doing one layer and then changing, with the first and last colors doing two layers each in a row and then changing.
My suggestion always does every color two layers in a row regardless of how many colors. This would reduce time and waste by a Huge Amount. For a four color print of five layers the original something like this:
1,1,1,1-2
2,2,2,2-3
3,3,3,3-4
4,4,4,4-5
5,5,5
vs
1,1,1,1-2
2-3,2-3,2-3,3-4
4-5,4-5,4-5,5
at no point is there more than a single layer difference between colors and many fewer color changes, Maybe 16 vs 12?
