Reducing Prepare Time

Has anybody else noticed how painfully long the H2D’s prepare time is?
Especially when using dual nozzle prints.

It seems like things like nozzle offset calibration and flow dynamics are not remembered between prints. So iterating on design is painfully slow as you have to buffer 10 minutes each time you want to print a new version.

Also the process of switching nozzles is quite messy, often leading to clumping on the nozzle. I print exclusively in Bambu’s PETG HF and I constantly have to baby sit multicolor prints (white + black) due to quality mishaps during nozzle switches, especially on the first few layers.

I know I can turn some of this stuff off but kinda defeats the purpose and aren’t they supposed to be “smart”?

I am running the beta firmware.

Thoughts or suggestions?

I just leave the default settings, but there are options to disable some of those checks.

Can you show some example pictures? Nozzle change is very fast and works flawless. But I don‘t print a lot od PETG

The H2C has the same issue. When I send code to the printer, I have everything unchecked except for Dynamic Flow Calibration, which is set to Auto. It runs nozzle cleaning at least twice for each nozzle and does automatic bed leveling before every print, even if bed leveling is turned off. The status information on the touchscreen is several steps ahead of what the printer is actually doing.

The bed leveling issue exists on every model I own (P1S and P2S as well as H2C).

The startup sequence that came with the last H2D was an enormous improvement already. I therefore don’t see a need to reduce it further by disabling more.

I usually see only the 5 spot bed leveling procedure executed, and sometimes a full grid is triggered when the 5 spot is out of spec. The left nozzle sequence has now been replaced with only a nozzle length comparison with one spot (left front) instead of running the same total sequence again with the slow left nozzle process.

This has sped up the startup sequence for dual nozzle prints enormously.

IMHO the dual probing of the entire bed was a useless procedure anyway, as the shape of the bed is not going to change if you probe it with the left or the right nozzle.

I have this same issue. I don’t understand why it takes so long every single time. I get doing the calibration occasionally but every single time, 10+ minutes to auto level and all the other checks is ridiculous

yes the automatic calibrations and stuff I paid 2500€ and more to have. Them. :joy:
