Reducing purge, waste and filament change time

I have 2x X1C printers and think it was a great leap forward from the Enders I was using (other than the small build platform.) I now have like 2000hrs on one printer and 1000hrs on the other. Rarely a failed print. Lots of different materials too. PLA, +, PETG, ABS, ASA, PAHT-CF and more. Fantastic.

Anyway, multi filament is a game changer, but it wastes so much material and takes so much time on a change I’m left wondering if there’s anyway to reduce that? If anyone has any bright ideas on how to reduce the waste material or change time I’m wide open to suggestions.

TIA

While not directly answering your question, ukdavewood has a nice use for excess purge in here: Making better use of Flush-into object in Bambu Studio
