How can I reinforce certain areas in the component, e.g. for fastening purposes?

You can add a modifier (cube or cyl, for example) around the area in the slicer and set 100% infill or additional wall loops. Or you can go into your CAD pgm and add some cut-outs around the area, which cause additional walls and thereby strengthen the print (counter-intuitive, but it works). You can also add “nano tubes” inside your model: place a 0.1mm diameter or a tad smaller cylinder void into the body of your object and the slicer will place walls around it, but since it’s such a small diameter you don’t have any void in the end.
I’ll try the modifier and 100% infill thing.
