The FTPS workaround not only needs additional software - it needs additional software that also allows to use legacy, deprecated protocols. Bambu X1C uses FTPS with Implicit SSL/TLS, which e.g. Cyberduck has removed support for a while ago.
Which is lot slower and more inconvenient than a simple drag-n-drop over FTP when the printer is in the shop and the PC is a hundred feet away. I really don’t give a damn if the protocol is old and lacks security. It’s on my firewalled LAN. The file is at as much risk to be hijacked over FTP as I am to be robbed by villains while carrying the µSDcard through the house. More likely I’ll drop the tiny thing and it will never be seen again.
+1 from my side
Most Bambu lab users of 3d printers are Geeks. You do not want cloud etc. LAN only mode will certainly use the majority of users. Please improve the LAN-only mode, same features as Cloud mode. best thanks.
I think it would be beneficial to be able to use a combination of both, where I like the bambu handy app (cloud only) for print notifications ect, the Bambu cloud servers can be slow to upload and if I want to print a large model It can take ages to reach my printer… you should be able to upload directly to the printer and retain cloud features.
Cloud only for any feature that can be supported locally is crazy.
