Repeated Filament Feeding Error – Extruder Issue on P1S

Hi everyone,

I’m currently struggling with a persistent filament feeding issue on my P1S.

A few days ago, filament got stuck in the toolhead. I had to manually push it out using a hot needle-like tip. After that, I was able to print normally again using the AMS.

However, the next day, the same error came back. The printer reported a filament loading error again. I disassembled the filament path and noticed that filament seemed to reach the extruder, but then wouldn’t go any further. The gear was spinning, but no extrusion occurred. There was no grinding, and the nozzle was clean.

I also tested loading filament manually (from the spool holder, bypassing AMS) – same problem. The filament reaches the extruder, then stops.

Do I need to replace the extruder unit? Or is there anything else I should check first?

Thanks in advance for your help!

People more expert than me but I would check the teeth on the extruder also.
Extruder is a semi-consumable item and if it was spinning on filament but no forward motion it can gnaw on the filament and clog up the teeth I have circled in blue in the below picture.
Also, did you use cutter to sever filament from extruder assembly? After that follow this guide

I have never had much luck with the needle as I always just pushed the dirt back up the nozzle. Nowadays, I go straight for the hot hex wrench cold pull and do it a few times in a row to actually remove contaminants.

It is indeed a good idea to check/clean the extruder gears occasionally, especially after a vexing clog.
