A while ago, a user called Glade uploaded a print profile for one of my models with no changes whatsoever to the original profile, with an AI-generated cover image. I reported it, and Bambu Lab removed it.
The very next day, a user called Nick ma uploaded what was essentially the same print profile, using the exact same AI-generated cover image. Overall I’ve reported and successfully had these print profiles removed three separate times, but each time it gets uploaded again instantly with a different account.
These profiles provide no additional value and exist purely to earn points from downloads. Both accounts collectively have over 90,000 print profile downloads, which makes me think this is a widespread practice affecting other creators as well.
Though the actual amount of points being “lost” per profile is relatively small, the issue is the repeated abuse of the system, especially given that these accounts have over a thousand uploaded print profiles and are collectively earning significant rewards from other creators’ work.
I’ve reported these print profiles each time, and Bambu Lab has successfully removed them three separate times. However, nothing is stopping them from instantly reuploading the print profile again, so the cycle repeats.
Aside from the problem you described, holy moly - MakerWorld has been flooded with AI content from this user in no time at all, including its own AI models and print profiles.

There’s no way a person could upload at such short intervals, so this is completely automated. He posts dozens a day. Just like the other user.

It might be different for Bambu if they were quality models but obviously this guy/company is posting junk.
I wish Bambu would get busy on this stuff. It really damages the reputation of Bambu but the rest of us too. If people get burned a few times with these junk models, they’ll go elsewhere.
AI models will probably gradually take over. It’s obvious with their posting rates they are pushing humans further and further into the weeds. They will likely get better with fewer defects and may even start modifying models to print well.
If Bambu doesn’t just add their own totally AI “tell us what you want and it will create it” app to get rid of middlemen, I’d be surprised. Without Bambu deciding this stuff is dehumanizing and bad, I think humans creating models will become like many other things AI is displacing.
Good thing too and about time! Elon said AI was going to eliminate the need for jobs and money and everything will be free. This gets us just a baby step closer! We can all be proud of the hit we will all take if it gets us to nirvana faster, eh? /s
I have no idea if there’s a direct connection to this topic, but this user is using a “clever trick” to fool the automatic image recognition and cheat the system: I was wondering why there are so many flies in the pictures under “New Releases.”
Especially if you can script what are essentially deposits into a bank account.
People buy, sell, and give away those kinds of tools. It may not be that long until Bambu is forced to act simply because their intake system may get buried.
It is becoming more and more prevalent for cheaters and thieves to steal content rather than actually make it. Some people even think it’s a right and it’s up to the Copyright holder to catch them.
Wonderful times we are living in…. Copyright Infringement gives the originator strong legal recourse if they pursue it and can show gain$ by the thief. I found Copyright law an interesting read in the mid-1990s.
In the case of removing infringing models, the original creator doesn’t have to show financial gains by the thief. Proving that one is the original creator is all that is required.
