Replacement A1 slightly different

In a previous thread, I was having a heatbed issue and instead of waiting on support to get back with me, I decided to just return it (since I was within my 30 day window). I ordered a new one directly from Bambu.

The replacement has some differences. What I have noticed so far:

  1. The packaging is different. This one has plastic shipping holders for the X axis assembly that are screwed to the frame, vice just the foam pieces. The manual does reflect this. I recall reading a post recently where it still had the old version instructions.
  2. The heatbed has round holes vice oval holes where it is mounted and do not have the silicone caps.
  3. The tool kit is now just bags tossed in a box (no plastic caddie), and the allen wrenches have no “handles” on them.
  4. They include a wind up motor for the boat model. LOL
  5. The spool holder is now one piece.

The rest seems about the same. When doing the initial calibration (and on my first print), I noticed the bed leveling routine is “off” a bit. On the old one when it is bed leveling and does the 3 head taps, it was always very rhythmic. This one sort of slows down every once in a while doing the taps. It does not seem to be affecting my test print. The camera light was on by default. I’m in the middle of a test print, so I need to check to make sure that toggles properly when it’s done.

Bottom line, it appears they are cutting some corners to save a few bucks. That said, the replacement was cheaper than the one I got just a month ago (from Amazon). Hope this one lasts more that the 99 hours of the other one.

Same for the P1S.

My P1S got heatbed errors after 40 hours … And it is my first 3D printer ever. Not a good start :frowning:
Got it in January.

My P1S has 1400 hours and 0 issues that weren’t my fault, Bambu printers are usually pretty good. Also my P1S combo came with the mouse kit, do they maybe come with a variety of different kits?

Did the Amazon one come from a 3rd party seller? It might have been one of the pre-recall ones.

First test print came out ok. I think the camera light on might be a firmware thing because I have not updated this one to the latest yet (the other one was), and while it did toggle off, it came back on automatically when I started another print.

After this next print I will do the firmware update.

Your A1 sounds like the one I ordered during the Black Friday sale directly from Bambu, but I think it was shipped from their US warehouse, think it is in Texas, to me, I live in the US. Also I got mine with in 10 days, although at the time lots of people here were having shipping delay issues. I didn’t. I also have about 99 hours on my printer so hope I don’t have the problem you had. Hope your new one gives you the care free service mine has. I am very happy with mine. Cheers.

This one came from Houston TX, and I am near San Antonio. I ordered it on Sat and got it on Tuesday, so no complaints there… They still have a blurb about shipping delays due to weather, but everything I have ordered from them (filaments, and some other spare parts) has all shipped right away either from Houston or LA.

Going to give this new one a real workout today. When I first got the other one I was really impressed with how well it worked (until it didn’t). After I had the heatbed issue, I came here to post about it and was reading some of the other threads. Saw a lot of “my new printer does not work” type of posts which was not giving me warm feelings. But I also know that most people have no problems.

glad you got it ok. I have been on this forum every day since getting my printer. Keeps me off the News sites and helps with my sanity…Yes there are those with complaints, but I feel that is a small percentage of A1 users. Those that aren’t having problems either aren’t posting much, just reading or once in a while to help others. When I ordered mine I ordered the combo, with the AMS lite because Bambu wasn’t shipping the AMS lite by it’s self at that time, only in combination with the A1, and there wasn’t any indication when the AMS lite would be available on it’s own. Now with the tariffs and post office blocking imports from China, I am glad i did buy the combo and I also bought some spare parts last month. Now I wish I would have bought more spart part, i.e. belts etc. In fact, I think I will do that today, Hopefully they will be coming from TX so I will still get them. And the “shipping delays” threads is over the moon. I feel for those that are still have issues, the thread started around the Black Friday sale, and I am sure Bambu didn’t expect the turnout and quickly ran out of product. Then they ran into the Christmas rush and holiday season, but I don’t know why people are still posting on those threads, I is in the thousands of posters. It looks bad for Bambu and I feel it is not accurate anymore. I feel they should close that thread and open a new one with more current data. I use to read it, but now I feel like having to read through 100s and 100s of post to find out what is happening if anything. (My opinion, don’t kill me for it.) Have fun printing today.

It was sold by Amazon but came from Bambu. For whatever reason it does not look like Amazon is selling them anymore (hence having to do a return vice exchange with them and buying directly from Bambu). It was a post recall version.
