New V2 Replacement Heatbed Installed – Factory Issues Discovered
I recently had to request a replacement V2 heat bed because my original bed had over 0.28mm (using dial guage) deviation across a single X/Y axis and had other issue such as misaligned plate guide and warped molding. The first layer quality was poor, so Bambu sent me a new one.
The swap itself went well. I’m very happy with the new bed, it’s very flat with less than 0.1mm deviation across the entire surface, and my first layers are now excellent.
However, during installation I found some concerning factory assembly issues:
The ground wire is mounted on the side. The wiki says you need to remove the front and left panels, but I was able to reach it by carefully pulling out the bottom corner panel (tight, but doable without damage). More importantly, there was a significant Z-axis misalignment from the factory. After installing the new bed, my dial indicator showed nearly 2mm of tilt front-to-back. I immediately suspected the rear lead screw was not properly installed from factory. When I loosened the 4 screws on the rear ACME nut and lowered it about a quarter turn, the bed leveled out and I could physically feel binding release on the linear rails and lead screw.
This misalignment would have caused constant binding and explains the white grease turning dark so quickly. It looks like the factory tried to compensate by over-adjusting the bed leveling screws instead of fixing the root cause on the lead screw / ACME nut / pulley.
Pretty disappointing to find this kind of issue on a machine so mass produced.
I wonder how many other machines are like this and users are unaware?
