Just to clarify I never cared about MQTT but I damn well care about being able to manage my printers, of many vendors, in a sane and accurate way, without my gcode or design files hitting the cloud.
When I purchased the printers, I could, and a reasonable person would not have expected that purposely built code to be removed before the warranty/support period was over. Now, during that same period, I am locked out of firmware support.
I am, and will remain to be, upset about that until these printers have gone thru their useful life and I can take them out back office-space style and extract my pound of flesh.
