Req – Automatic Shutdown of Chamber Lighting After Print

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using the Bambu Lab H2D for a little while now and am overall very satisfied with the printer – especially in terms of print quality, speed, and the well-thought-out ecosystem.

However, I’ve noticed a small area for improvement regarding the chamber lighting (LED):
Even though both the Sleep Mode* for the printer and the Eco Mode for the chamber light can be enabled, the LED remains permanently on after a print has finished, unless manually turned off.

My suggestion:
It would be very helpful to have an optional timer-based function that automatically turns off the LED a few minutes after the print finishes – for example, after a user-defined interval (e.g., 5, 10, or 15 minutes). This could be integrated either as part of the Eco Mode or as a separate setting.

I would really appreciate it if this idea could be considered for a future firmware update.
Or are there already similar plans or known workarounds for this behavior?

Thanks in advance – and a big thank you to the Bambu team for your ongoing development and improvements!

Best regards,
2B.MainPrints

Hallo, bei mir funktioniert es wie es soll!

I do a lot of overnight prints, the chamber lighting is off when I get up in the morning. No idea how long it stays on for, but it seems to turn off eventually.

I have mine setup for Auto Sleep and in Energy Saving Mode.

i set also to enery mode and 5 min sleep timer. maybe its a bug in the firmware… i try to reset it tmr - will msg back in time -)

Same for me. I set it to 5 minutes when idle and the light stays on.

I’ve wanted this and a complete auto shutdown after printing option on every printer I’ve owned and have never seen it. I run some printers at work and some at home that I leave running and possibly don’t get back to for days. I’ve set up a system of smart power strips so that I can remotely monitor and turn off once finished from anywhere. I was concerned about them possibly causing a problem electrically, but have done it for about 2 years and haven’t seen an issue.

For those talking about sleep timer settings for the light, where is that?

For Printer
Printer Settings → Settings → AutoSleep → set timer

For LED
Printer Settings → Settings → Chamber Ligth Mode → select Manual or Energy-Saving-Mode

i also use a Smart socket - as soon as the power load falls below a value of “XY” watts, the power supply switches off the printer completly.
However, the printer consumes more power in idle mode with active LED than the value set in the smartsocket - so it does not turn off completly the printer.

But I’m more concerned about the LED itself, it should simply turn off when printing is finished, either at the same time as the printer’s sleep timer, or simply 1-2 minutes after the print job is finished. As I said, I will run some more tests today and see if it is only occasionally that the light does not turn off.

After I reset the device to factory settings, the LED is now deactivated after a certain time - so the issue has been resolved - there was probably a bug in the firmware/update somewhere - thanks for your messages though

ok, the problem still exists. i have now printed 5 jobs and enabled the sleep timer and energy saving mode of the LED - the LEDs remain on. Only when the door is opened and closed again does the LED go out after a period of time.

Mine works as intended, but I wish the light would turn back on when I touch the touchscreen.

I’ve got mixed results with this. When I first got the printer (on launch firmware, no beta) I recall it turning the light off after idle. Recently, I upgraded the firmware to the latest release and now when the job is done, it’s just staying on. I confirmed in the panel that energy savings is “ON” and sleep is set to 5 minutes. I’m in the process of doing a full factory reset to see if that helps, I’ll update this post if it does.

I just open the door a bit to get the light back on :slightly_smiling_face:

This is honestly my biggest annoyance with the printer. I don’t think I’ve tried the sleep timer though…

I’m getting mixed results too. sometimes it stays on till I press “OK” on the screen so the green light bar goes back to white, sometimes the lights turn off. It’s not consistent…

Agreed, the light staying on after a print is annoying! I am unable to affect this behavior with the current settings. It seems that the automatic timer does not work in the current firmware. IMO, the default behavior should be to turn off the lights shortly after finishing a print, but at the very least users should be able to set this in the menu.

I have the same request, I will shut off my chamber light to have it come back on after the finish of the print. Even this is weird because one print it will stay off another it turns back on. I have ECO turned on and a 2min timer,

Hope to see this option in the future.

Thanks for your message - then I’m really no exception here. Since the latest update, it increasingly goes off after the print job. Of course only after the 2-minute timer. However, I have also noticed that the light sometimes stays on even after 10 to 15 minutes.
