Request: Adaptive speed option for A1/A1 mini

Tall prints wobble and are more likely to fail on A1 series printers due to the bed movement. For example I just printed Christmas Tree with Skirt Remixed by cbass419 - MakerWorld but it failed with 5% left due to it wobbling so much that it snapped at the bottom. I’ve had similar failures with tall prints in the past too.

Current options are either slow the entire print down, or add a height range modifier.

Neither of these are ideal or convenient.

I want a simple checkbox or something to enable adaptive speed by height range. Basically, automatically slow things down as the print gets taller so it’s less likely to fail.

I’ve printed plenty of tall prints on my A1 Mini, on both the smooth & textured plates.
The thing is, you need to add a brim, even if you feel you don’t need one, add it anyway. Make it at least 10 lines, if that fails…then glue…JMO

Yeah it’s not detaching from the bed, when I have issues it’s usually that the print is wobbling so much at full speed printing when it gets tall that the head starts bumping into it when it’s moving around and then eventually it either spaghettis or it pushes into the model so hard that it breaks at some point lower. These are thin more delicate prints not big thick prints. Like a big helmet is fine. It’s more tall thin stuff like that Christmas tree up above here that I linked.

Studio 1.10 has greatly improved the use of manual supports on vertical and near vertical surfaces. These supports are an effective way to control the wobbles.

Enable tree (manual) supports and paint a spot or two on the front and back of the model. These will stabilize the model, and with a small Support/object x-y distance (try 0.15mm) will not touch or scar the print.

Thanks good tip :+1: I’d still like the option for adaptive speed though to avoid using filament on supports like this

Even if there are options to solve this print problems… the idea of adaptive height modifiers would be great, not only for speed…
