Required filament until the end of printing (m)

During printing, display the remaining required filament until the end of printing, in addition to time and layer.

Half of your wish was already granted. Load Orca Slicer, it has both the time countdown till completion, layer height and time of day estimates when it will complete printing. It’s one of the many quality-of-life enhancements present in Orca Slicer that are not present in its older sister, Bambu Studio. Since you can have both on your system at the same time, there is no downside to using both.

The only of these missing from Studio is wall time at completion.

Forgive me but what exactly is “wall time”?

It’s not impossible, but what would it get you? If it said you need 100 meters to finish the print, how does that help you?

Wall clock time. UTC adjusted for your time zone.

If I am printing a multi-hour print and I am halfway through (time) at midnight  , I would like to know if I have enough filament to finish the print and go to sleep, or if I need to wait and add more filament. Filament consumption is not linear, and I cannot estimate if it will be enough. Of course, I can add more filament in advance and set up a backup filament, but I don’t always want to change the filament (I usually have multiple types of filament in the AMS and not just one, so I can’t set up a backup without worries). I can also evaluate in advance if the filament will be enough, but estimating 40m is harder than 5m.

I’m not trying to invalidate or contest your suggestion, it’s perfectly legitimate. What I’m debating is since I could add this functionality to orca (or studio) myself I’m trying to evaluate if I’d even want it. You gave an example, but you also gave what would have been my reply, that you could simply check the usage in advance. You then proposed that it is easier to determine how much is remaining on a more exhausted roll than a fuller one, I’m not sure I agree.

Anyway, again, it’s a perfectly legit request. I don’t see enough benefit so I personally won’t be adding it to orcaslicer or studio, but maybe someone else or BBL themselves will. Maybe the same guy who added the finishing time to orcaslicer.

Thumb up  I am printing many years and I am sw developer, so i know this feature is not that hard to implement, and may help sometimes… And as you say, it is not ground breaking feature  but if I have posibility to request, I’ll. Anyway, thanx for your comments, because it gives me pragmatic view to my request.
