Reset Bambu Studio to defaults?

^ This is the correct way to do this.

I think my factory profile settings for layers 0.16 Highquality and the like are messed up they are very slow from what I remember them being. could this have something to do with having the Develop mode on? I need to factory reset everything to as if downloaded the first time. I think I may have just answered my own question…

Wylaryzel. This is incorrect. I too have been having this issue. My default settings are changing. I believe it is linked to the “preferences tab and selecting Develop Mode”. I am unsure if this is the culprit but, the default settings are most definitely changing.

Having develop mode on (my reason was because I needed to change the first layer flow for tpu reasons.) that is the cause of default settings changing. My issue is I forgot to turn it off for months.

Also for whomever does this. It does work. But and this is a big ole Butt, It deleted all of my filament calibrations. some 40 calibrations with PA ASA ABS CF infused GF infused pla. So maybe next person that sees this. you should probably do some digging in that app data file to find those exact files so you don’t “nuke” 80 some hours of calibrations.

lkraus, thank you. that fixed my issue.

You are the man Ikraus! Thank you so much!

This is not entirely true. the presets can be changed by selecting in the preferences “Developer Mode”. Once this has been performed, the default settings will change. Try it and see.

Thank you for this, needed this answered too.

Dont Nuke it, just rename it with -old a the the end , ie “BambuSudio-old”. You get a new setup and keep all old files.

I have the same question. I know there is a way to reset the slicer settings back to default but I wish it was easier to find in bambu studio. I am using version 1.10.1.50. It’s just not in a logical location that my brain would think of.

I think it might be under “Process” on the left side of the screen you will see the setting/profile that you are currently using. If and I say if I am correct, every time I make a change bambu makes a copy of the profile or it save the change into a previous copied profile. Am I at all correct? Therefore you would just select the profile that does not say “Copy” in its name. Therefore, there isn’t a reset function like we would think of in the traditional sense.

So according to Gemini I am correct about profiles. To go back to a previous default profile. Just select the printer profile from the list. If you want to go back to a default of a profile that you created offv of the system default profile I think you should make a backup copy or sorts of the modified profile so you can always return to the default. User created profile. I bought my X1C over US Black Friday deal last November 2024. I have printed a ton. I have really never deviated from the stock profile for the most part. I leave every thing to the default settings, except for supports. And I use a 5 line skirt/brim on the first layer instead of a raft. Easier to remove.

I have had most issues that have been reported. I got 1 or 2 Spaghetti prints, I got Zits, and I got 1 or 2 completely failed prints. Half or these were my fault. Ie. I forgot to change the filament type from PLA settings to Petg. And I got a full spaghetti print. I have gotten a small spaghetti print where I printed both a large object and a small object on the same build sheet. I placed the small objects behind the larger ones and I think the camera AI could not see the small object. What is cool is that I can just delete the small objects that failed and continue printing. I found out that you need to clean off the Spaghetti print off ofv the bed before continuing or the AI will keep pausing. The AI goes not know that it already detected that part already. Maybe Bambu can update the AI to be more intelligent. For the Zits. I recalibrated the printer for that material. It is a good idea to also re-dry the filament as well. On my X1C i never turn off the AI settings I tied turning off the Spaghetti detection once so it would not keep warning me throughout the print after detecting the initial failure. And I regretted it. Also make sure on large prints that your print or your support material does not lay on top of the priming lines at the front of the printer. I had a fail detection error on the first layer do to this fact. Most 90+% of my many many prints come out beautiful. I print at 2.4mm layer height in sport mode. And the prints look beautiful. I tried just one small 3mm part and it printed great.

System presets are the “default” settings.

You cannot change the default System presets unintentionally. Even in Developer mode, if you make changes, they are only retained when you save them with a different name. Try to save an edited System preset with the original name and you will be blocked.

Once the name has been changed, a preset is no longer a System preset, it is a User preset.

If you really dug deep and manually edited the System .json files with a text editor, installing a Studio update or re-installing the current version will overwrite the hacked presets with the standard defaults.

If you have User presets that you no longer want, just delete them.
For User Printer and Filament presets, click the edit icon to the right of the preset name. Then, in the Settings window, click the X between the floppy icon and the magnifying glass. (System presets do not show an X in the settings window)
User Process presets are deleted by just selecting the Process and then clicking the X to the right of the name.
