Retain Custom Filament Profiles upon File-import

Hey everyone,

the question is simple and the answer might be, but I just can’t figure out how.

I have set individual Filament-profiles (PET-G Geeetech with different price and PA)

and every time I import a model from Makerworld, the Filaments get changed to those of the creator. I then click “Resync” to get my Filaments into place, BUT instead of using my profiles, it always imports the Generic PETG profiles from BBL. It sets the correct color and order, so that’s great, but still the settings are different.

Anyone any idea how to solve this - to not having to manually change all profiles every time I import a file?!

Thx in advance community

PD: Or is there any setting to mitigate the change of filament-profiles when importing any file in the first place??

PD2: Yeay!! and since the new update I have another problem which goes hand in hand with the above situation (if one not changes the profiles).
Happened the third time now. The profiles/colors are somehow not syncing (when default profiles are loaded) and going to print.

although the colors are all correctly set:

So I have to again, manually change the profiles in order to get B-Studio to recognize the Filament.

I hope I didn’t confuse you all too much…

What i do to prevent it from messing up my settings is:

Download the Print profile/Model (Not “Open in Bambu studio”)

Open Bambu studio manually and add a cube or any random shape to the build plate

Then drag in the file you downloaded.

BS will ask if you just want to import the geometry or load it as a project (use the settings from the file)

Click geometry only and remove the placeholder shape.

Hmm… that seems more like a workaround as a “how-to” XD
If there is no other way, I might just do that, or complain on Git-hub.

Difficult question, simple answer: Create a new printer, e.g. “x1c home” and store all your filament profiles in it. If you now open another Makerworld profile and all your settings change, it’s no big deal. Next time, simply click on your “x1c home” and everything will be back as usual.

That sounds less of a hassle. I wonder why there is no option to not import printer-settings. I would understand the filament-profile, but why colors…? No one has the exact same colors. I’ll give your way a try but still hoping someone has a solution ^^

A minor change in Bambu Studio would be a simple, elegant solution.
@NVNDO how about writing this up as a suggestion on Github?

Instead of working around issues, I like to fix them or get them fixed. Therefore I have already made several requests and suggestions of which some have been partially fixed, and others should be completely fixed with V1.9.

But it has happened in the past that I missed a button I could have clicked, or didn’t fully understand its intended use-case.
Functions might also be useful for a certain user, but creating problems for others.

I just want to be sure I’m not missing anything because for some reason they programmed it like that. I just can’t see the beneficial side of it.

Could you please share your Geeetech profiles? I’d love to expand my files.
