So i’ve been fighting with a real ugly seam in a PA tower in orcaslicer. I’ve tried turning off retraction at layer change, it still retracts at the seam. I’ve tried increasing the threshold distance for a retraction to be triggered. Still retracting at the seam. I cannot make this stop for the life of me.
Add another mark against this lying shitty company. This product was launched 2 years too early and I get to pay to be their R&D. Raw deal.
Do you really expect anyone to take you seriously when you rush to the defense of a company that doesn’t pay you? I only expected this company to deliver on their promises, and they haven’t come close yet.
The frustrated attitude is for Bambu as a company, not the users of this forum. My apologies if I made it seem otherwise.
The tower itself is coming out bad because of this specific thing, it takes a video to demonstrate what the motion looks like.
There’s no reason to retract at that seam, but it insists on doing so. Even when it’s not retracting, that move between extrusions lingers for a split second
I just saw your post ya when things are not working it can get frustrating.
Also Orca Slicer is not a Bambu lab product, it is made by a team of great people on their own time just wanting to make a slicer for all of us to use and it’s free
What version of Orca slicer are you using? They have had bugs on the PA test.
I’m running Orca version 2.0.0-dev you can download the beta test versions also but know they can have bugs or fixes and the team is always working on the software.
I looked at the PA tower and it has no retractions in the preview screen on my 2.0.0-dev version so I think you have a PA bug version.
The other option is to use the PA pattern or PA line. I used to use the tower in the early klipper days but I find the other patterns work better.
Also select DDE as the extruder type for direct drive if you did not know.
But I’ve been fiddling with things and found that even when I make my own model to match the the PA tower’s geometry, it still gives me those unwanted retractions, on top of that awful dwell/hesitation at the start of a new outer wall.
I’m really running out of ideas. I’ve sliced my way around a ton of problems before, but this one is extra frustrating.
Even when I’ve got retractions turned off entirely, that dwell it does is totally wrecking the seam.
Can anyone else show me their PA towers from Orca? Are the seams always like this?
It’s late at night in my location to print but in the ( filament settings - setting overrides ) try turning off all the settings you don’t want and set the seam gap to zero and see what happens.
If no luck for now use another PA test so you can get your PA setting.
This might be a long shot but a previous printer I had did something similar, a small pause now and then, and that was the “M413 - Power-loss Recovery” function writing to the memory card.
It can be disabled.
