Review of the Bambu PLA Basic Filament in Beige

I have this:

And must say that this is the second worst filament I have ever had. I have the refill.

First of all, the winding is very very bad and inconsistent. It is overlapping itself and I had to manually unstuck it twice in 1.5h of printing.

Second, it is brittle and breaks very easily.

Third, the color. It’s sold as “beige” but it really is skin-color. There is a pinkish, redish hue to it and it looks like the skin of a doll. If you want this, fine, but then it is not beige. Beige is sand colored, beige is a light shade of brown. This filament is not beige. It is rather light pink with a slight brown flavor.

I bought three spools… well damn…
If you want a nice beige filament, which is perfectly wound, works with AMS without a problem even though the the spool is made of cardboard buy this one: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B08X6LSXVY this works perfectly. I have printed several kilos of this in the AMS with the X1C and AMS. No problem at all, while with the Bambu Lab PLA I had problems with the first spool.

Interesting review. I’ve had uneven experience with Bambu’s PLA Basic. I purchased a spool of beige rather than a refill, and saw no twisting issues. Your description of the color is spot on, right down to the pinkish overtone. For me, the beige filament didn’t exhibit any brittleness. It printed well, and the resulting parts seem fine.

I also purchased a refill PLA Basic in blue, and that material does exhibit both twisting and some brittleness. It also doesn’t print very well. Perhaps drying the filament might help? Or it might be that the manufacturing process for the filament is not as consistent as it should be.
