how does it work if I create a parametric model in OpenSCAD and include it as part of a published model? Will its use by users be counted towards my reward points in any way?
Speaking from experience - both downloads and prints of customized model do count towards model prints and downloads.

Yes, and same rules are applied, like just the first download and print from a single user counts
