Rough middle layers printing ASA

I regularly get bad middle layers as shown in the picture. The layers are where a border sits on top of a base plate. I’m using Polymaker ASA (new out of the box), profile that ships with the X1C. I’ve printed one of these with a smaller diameter, and the problem was way less pronounced, but that may be coincidence.

Printed several of these with PLA, no issues with those.

Any idea what causes this?

Welcome to the forum.

That large of part is going to struggle with warping issues when printed in ASA. Warping will cause the surface and wall defects that you are seeing.
