Anyone who has been keeping track of running costs of a P1 series printer? Spare parts, repairs, maintenance and similar. Not talking about filaments.
Are there any general estimations on what a printer will cost a user per X thousand print hours? Or a life expectancy estimation?
Trying to figure out what a printer will end up costing me per print hour or however it is calculated.
It’s out of curiosity and nothing else.
I have about 1400 hours on my P1S. I got it in November 2024. I have not had any maintenance costs so far, the printer comes with basically everything you need for regular maintenance.
Lubing Z Rods ($0) (Printer comes with extra grease packets)
Switching out damaged nozzle ($0) (Printer comes with a spare nozzle)
Declogging nozzle ($0) (Printer comes with a tool to get out clogs)
I will probably be purchasing a new toolhead cover and TH board due to me damaging the connectors, but it still works for now.
I was thinking of longterm wear and tear.
At some point you run out of stuff you got with the purchase.
Lots of parts that can break or stop working after the warranty period.
My heatbed broke after 40 hours (on the sixth day) and it can break again and again.
Yes, things like that can happen but it’s quite rare, I don’t think most people go through significant issues like that.

I got 10 months of pretty much flawless printing from my p1s except for it murdering my textured print plate on it’s 2nd print the day I got it.
After 10months? It’s a money pit. So many failed prints due to no sdcard, wifi disabling itself (this stops printing but keeps the nozzle on your print and keeps all temps high), nozzle clogs, extruder clogs, “finishing” a print halfway through for no reason with no errors, AMS motor issues, AMS hub issues. It’s a fast growing list, now add all the wasted PLA with the high price of filament due to not living in the US and these costs are really racking up.
I’ve been holding off buying a 2nd printer so I can print while my P1S is dead and awaiting troubleshooting or parts to arrive. I heard Bambu are possibly releasing a new printer early this year but I’m really kicking myself for not preordering a Creality K2 for $2k cause now they are $3k and I’m still having issues with my P1S every week.
IDK what you mean failed prints due to no SD card, you can’t take the SD card out while printing.
I mean the print fails due to no sdcard, even though it has one. I’m not removing the card at all with the printer turned on.
So to fix I turn off the printer, take the sdcard out, reinsert it, power printer back on and cross my fingers.
I might get 1 print fine, I might get 10, it might give me the exact same issue again straight away, it might corrupt the sdcard completely making it impossible to reformat.
