Hi everyone! Looking for some feedback on this Bee Hotel design.
I’ve been working on this functional print to help local pollinators, and I’d love to get some suggestions on how to improve it.
The main goal was safety: I designed the entrance holes to be small enough for solitary bees but too narrow for hornets and larger predators to get inside. It’s a two-piece print (honeycomb body + protective faceplate) optimized to be printed with few supports.
A couple of questions for the experts here:
-
Do you think the hole diameter is too restrictive, or is it okay for most solitary bee species?
-
Regarding outdoor durability: is the top mounting eyelet strong enough for long-term use, or should I reinforce the connection to the main body?
I’m really trying to make this as effective as possible for the bees. Any advice or critique is more than welcome!
