As someone who didn’t think the Panda Touch I bought was worth the money, I took a crack at using an Android tablet and installed the Bambu Handy app on it. I also didn’t want to have to hold the tablet so I bought a mount for the tablet.
What is less visable is I wiped the tablet clean by reformatting the tablet, reinstalled the correct version of Android on it and none of the junk that usually comes on a phone or tablet.
That is exactly what this is, an old Galaxy Tab A and I have it plugged into power stip that printer and Sunlu S4 are plugged into.
You probably could make a stand but I chose not to.
For the short time I had the Panda Touch in service, I found that the stand that came with the touch was not working for me. With the stand I bought, because it is articulated I can move it to accomodate me when I am sitting or standing.
You can’t print the gas shock in the assembly that allows it the range of motion it has.
Bambu Handy only needs an Android OS to run as far as I can tell. If Bambu Lab would fix the Networking add-in to facilitate using Linux distribution installations of Bambu Studio you could do the same general thing, but with Bambu Studio
No issues. You should do a fit test before removing the adhesive backing so you can cut off the extra strip at the optimal location. That cut location may vary based on riser size and dimension.
Make sure you have a good power supply of the correct voltage.
so the original light remains in service, the led strip is additional. I thought maybe you had been able to use the original lights power supply. Thanks for the info.
No. I also had to buy the power supply separately. Those are lights from Makers Supply or Bambu Labs. I had tried 2 different Amazon cheapo’s and was suggested to me to get these lights. The two Amazon strip spools were both junk.
That tablet with Bambu Handy on it is a big upgrade over both the Touchpad that came with my P1S and the short-lived Panda Touch I used for less than a week. Usually I’m running the printer via Bambu Studio on my laptop. Bambu Handy is more about maintenance, filament loading and that type of thing.
Yes thats exactly how I use my iPhone controller: set AMS filaments, load/unload TPU, reprint, change nozzle type, movement during servicing, lights etc.
Forgive my stupidity, its been a while since I have touched a BL, so I am getting back into it. Is there anything you HAVE to use the screen on the P1S for that you cannot use a tablet or spare phone for?
After you asked this question I went through the touchpad and that Galaxy Tablet I commandeered and as far as I can tell you can do everything from the tablet.
The one thing I can’t answer for is the intial wifi configuration on first start.
