OK I think I’m being thick or stupid or both but!
I open a .stl file in Bambu Lab and all is OK I them slice and print — great.
But then I cannot find a way to save the completed file to my PC so I can reload it again at a later date without slicing it again!
With my last printer/sliced I just saved it as a .gx then I could load it and print! or am I missing something here?
Not at my computer but where you click “print” there is a dropdown where you can save the file.
Bambu Studio uses 3MF files (which really are just ZIP files with a certain folder structure). So you can’t tell from the file extension alone whether a 3MF is sliced (i.e. contains G-code) or whether it’s a project (i.e. contains an STL or STEP).
You can save the sliced printable file into a 3MF too. On the top right, where it says “print plate” click the arrow next to it:
Then there’s the option to export the sliced plate (or all sliced plates) to a file. You can then put that file on an SD-Card and print it.
Cheers mltriebe, yep I did see that and tried it but I can’t then reload it back it at a later time? I have to load the .stl file or a .3fm file but then I have to slice again! But as I said I may be missing something
Cheers hho, so you can’t load sliced file onto the printer via a PC but only by saving it to a memory card then putting that into the printer?
I think you can just reopen the gcode.3MF.
Studio will go directly to the sliced view and you can hit print as usual.
Everything I reopen needs slicing again. I’m doing something wrong I guess so I’ll just slice everytime.
Thanks for all the help
I’ll start a few file and go over the process to see where my brain is switching off
I just tried the instructions from hho and the .3mf file opened sliced and ready to print.
After selecting “Export plate sliced file” then click on Export plate sliced file” this brings up the save dialog. When that saved file is opened it opens with Print Plate as an available option.
Yep, Thanks, I was exporting the “G-code” not the “Plate Sliced File”
Thanks to you all for all the help
