Scaly prints! fixed - the consequences of slack belts

hey all,

I’m using an X1 carbon with a new nozzle, freshly lubed threads and cleaned rails.
using the hardened steel 0.4 nozzle and the cool bed with the 3d print adhesive
I have been keeping to the standard material profiles and the 0.08 preset.
I have been using a selection of PLA’s. bambu normal - black, bambu matt - black and the pla-cf in black as well.
I have put all these profiles through the new auto-calibration processes and it hasn’t helped
I have tried adjusting the flow ratio as recommended but it hasn’t gotten me anywhere

in recent prints, all I’m getting is this horrid scaling issue over the top layers of my prints, it looks like it has been picked or boiled.
as well as some weird-looking wall surfaces.

the first few prints I did with the white filament provided look outstanding. what can I do to match that quality?

I had something similar but not as bad. I went back and check the belts again. Going corner to corner about ten times. Then did the full calibration. My problem was solved.

wow, I didn’t realise how much of an improvement that would give!
the belts didn’t feel slack at all but giving them a loosen, then a corner-to-corner move and a re-tighten has improved it no end!
Thanks Barry
