I don’t think I am missing anything, but maybe I am. I have a file with several round parts that I have selected to SCARF the seams. I started a print and I could see that it was not scarfing as it should. stopped the print, check the setting and restarted. Same problem.
I have selected CONTOUR in the filament Scarf Seam Type setting and under the quality tab as I am preparing the model, I have checked SMART SCARF SEAM APPLICATION. I am printing with E-Sun PLA+.
Am I missing something or is there something else I may be doing that is cancelling the scarf seam? I have used this many times before with good results. Is it an update issue as I have updated to the latest STUDIO? ANyone else experience this?

I just tried it and it seems to work as expected on the latest version.
Set your color scheme to “flow” in preview and you can view the scarf directly to make sure it is working.
And welcome to the forum!
“And welcome to the forum!”
Thank you
When I view the seam in flow view I see a white vertical line. I have printed this same file before (actually I did 22 of these a XMas) and they were hit and mis whether or not the seam was scarfed. There were a couple of upgrades come out during the process of printing these and I just figured it was because of the upgrades. I honestly have no idea why this is happening.
What settings do you normally make sure are set to scarf a seam?
For my test, I just went into generic PLA and turned on scarf contour, and confirmed that scarf seam application was checked (it was) before slicing.
Can you do what I did and just use the built-in primative cylinder and see if you get a scarf? It looks like this on mine:
If that works, it might be some kind of angle/threshold setting specific to your model. Feel free to upload it.
I haven’t changed a thing… These are my settings

Hmm, that is odd. This is the only thing I changed:
What were your other Quality/Strength changes?
Does it work if you just start from a blank, new, unchanged scratch project? I even duplicated your esun, 14 mm/s and 15 mm length and it still worked on the cylinder. And set to X1C.
I just closed Studio, then opened studio, created a primitive 3"dia 3" tall cylinder, set the filament to CONTOUR scarf, then made sure Smart Scarf Seam Application was still default checked and finally sliced it… same results
Crazy, I don’t what is going on, what version of studio are you using? I’ll try downloading it. I just resized my cylinder even to match yours, still works…
2.0.1.50
I don’t know either…this is weird
I’m on the same version too.
Thanks for the effort…time to relax a little

Still trying to sort this out. This morning I have tried changing the filament a few times. During all of this, it appears as though the scarf joint would have worked 1 time. I change the filament to PolyLite PETG and resliced and the scarf looked good. Changed the filament back to the eSun and the scarf seam looks like it would fail. SO i thought maybe its the profile for the filament…but just for fun I went back to the PolyLite and this time it failed. I’ve tried using Bambu filament profiles and they won’t scarf either
I know it is supposed to be disabled on some filaments. So maybe it is a mixture of both needing the right filament settings as well as print settings. There may be other features like adaptive Z height that break or don’t play well with scarf joints.
Oh, and PETG was mentioned. PETG is one of the ones that is default disabled as scarfing.
PETG is the only filament that I have been able to get set to actually scarf in the last three days
FINALLY ON TO SOMETHING HERE
It does appear that the issue is only with my X1C now. I am leaving the filament and print settings alone right now and just switching between the X1 and the P1. The P1 is slicing properly every time now. The X1 still has the same problem.
Gonna have to dig into it
Well…maybe not. The P1S sliced and scarfed the project fine so I sent it to the printer…it is printing correctly, BUT in the software I changed color and resliced. It failed to scarf it. Changed back to the color I am printing with and again it failed to scarf it. It’s hit and mis whether or not it will scarf a joint.
SUPER FRUSTRATED. I’ve done everything I can think of
I just wanted to say HAHA, I love punny jokes.
For all that have followed this, I just received an email from Bambu support. Apparently, even though I was printing with PLA in slot 4 of the AMS, I need to enable scarf joints for the filament in slot 1 (which in this case was PETG)… Here is the email message I received:

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Bambu Lab support. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with your printer, filament, or software. Rest assured, we will work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Based on the file you have provided, I suspect that this could be a bug of the current version of Bambu Studio. For the model you have provided, you just need to also enable the scarf seam for PETG filament(filament 1) and the scarf seam will work for this model(using filament 4). Please refer to the attached video for guidance. I will also reach out to the R&D department and ask for the potential reason for this issue.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
Best regards,
