Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, I did search the first few pages but did not find anything.
since drying cant be done while printing, I would like schedule my drying for the AMS2 and HT when the printer is not being used.
For example between 1:00am and 5:00 am every 3 days, or 5 days etc etc, and only dry if the humidity level is above a certain level.
Can this be done ?
If not available or already in the pipeline, BAMBU staff, please add this as an enhancement, it woulds be sooooo useful and (as a coder myself) I dont think it would be difficult to code.
another thing that would be easy to implement, although I believe it has been mentioned in other threads, would be to pause drying on print and resume again afterwards.
If there are technical reasons why they cant happen concurrently (current consumption, feeding issues) then this would be a good compromise.
It would need to allow printing to happen when the dryer was running, with a user setting to “pause dryer while printing”
and again, not rocket science to implement but a great enhancement to the user experience.
C’mon Bambu you can do much better with not a lot of effort
When drying in the AMS2 you have to unload the filament completely from the feeder.
So although it would be fairly simple to code a schedule timer in to the drying function, you’d still have to manually load the filament before you could print.
As a corollary to this. I bought and fitted the Sunlu heater which replaces the AMS heater which replaces the AMS lid.
This allows the heater to operate whether the printer is running or not. So I make sure that the slots not taken by filaments printing still have spools in.
I have rotated through all 60 different filaments I have using this method.
However, if a filament is left in the feeder when the heater turns off, it often leads to a kink in the filament as it cools which then means that it won’t feed correctly through the AMS.
You’re right. Technically you can heat and dry while the filament is in the feeders.
HOWEVER, as noted above, from experience this leads to issues when the filament then cools as it hardens in kinks and causes errors with the feed.
This would be a very helpful feature. I just got my HD2 and two AMS Pro 2 units, and I’m very confused by how limited the drying functionality is. I have the power adaptor, so I’d think that there’s plenty of power to run one unit while the printer is printing.
Without either the ability to run it while printing or to schedule it, I don’t see any practical way to dry and print without it taking days.
Bit late, but home assistant would do it. I set up an active chamber heater and exhaust system with my p2s using it. You would have to find a way to unload it or just do it manually, but its worth a shot.
i agree scheduled drying would be great or even an option to start drying when printings complete or an option to start it in the app or studio so i dont have to go all the way to my basement…
A feature like this would make the drying feature of the AMS 2 Pro so much more useful.
I also remember seeing mention a while back (by a user, not Bambu,) of wanting to be able to start drying after a print finishes, but can’t find the thread now. Anyone know of such a thread?
Another vote for scheduled drying. My electricity is cheap as anything from midnight to 7 am so it would be nice to be able to set them all to dry for me.
