Scratches on the HEATBED not the PLATE

Hi i noticed today 2 big scracthed on the heatbed not the plate the thing which heats up the plate.
i wonder how that happens since there is a Cold Plate or Pei Plate which i always use on prints. first i noticed low scratches and anfter a 10min print i change the plate and this time its deeper and you can even feel it with the finger when you touch the surface. so my question is:

got anyone same problem ?
how could it happend to avoid it again ?
and last but not at least can i change the bed ?

Please provide a picture of the scratch, otherwise we can only speculate what’s happening.

There must have been something on the bottom of the plate when you put it on there. And then when you removed it, it scratched it. Make sure the bottom side of the plate is clean. You can replace the bed. I wouldn’t worry about it because it shouldn’t affect anything.

And a tipp, if this isn’t obvious: Lift the plate to the top to remove it, dont pull it to the front.

These scratches are pretty common and are caused by the rear of the build plate catching against the magnetic bed when you remove/install it.

The way to avoid this is to put the bed down low to make it easier to install and remove the bed plate without scraping it on the magnet.

I wouldn’t worry about the scrapes though - the magnetic bed plates are thick enough for slight indentations to not cause any issue.

Ok thank you , i was shocked at first brand new printer and then this… but my plates were really clean i always check both sides strange.

The rear sticky out section of the plates has quite sharp corners, and with the magnetic attraction of the bed it’s quite easy to dig them into the magnet a bit.

Do you have some of the coating rubbed off by the nozzle on the rear of the plate? I wouldn’t be surprised if the edge of this coating is what was causing the scratches if it was placed upside down and the plate was dragged while being removed.

nozzle is clean but maybe youre right the middle of plate the 2 edges are sharp maybe it happens there but normaly i try to be carefull

The nozzle cleaning itself there at the rear of the plate and some of the coating come up during the bed leveling is normal. You can slice off any sharp edges with a knife to reduce scratching if you’re worried about it.

nono its fine i was just shocked how that happend anyway thank you for the help everyone. does anyone know why there is no more petg on cold plate !?!

PETG sticks a bit too well on the cold plate. Use engineering plate instead.

yes i noticed that

yes my son did this today, one month old printer and my boy puts the plate on at an angle and now it has a deep scratch on it, I suppose replacement fabric squares will be available at some point
