This topic comes up from time to time. The remedy is a balance between one’s ingenuity vs paying the $45 for a replacement AP board and doing the repair. On a difficulty scale of 1-10, 10 being hardest, 5 being the effort it takes to replace a desktop computer motherboard, I’d place this at a level 2. But that is subject to argument. The reason why I say it’s a 2 is because there are only 4 screws and five connectors.
However, before you there, I’d recommend blasting the slot with compressed air. It’s very likely that some particle is blocking the spring mechanism and you may get lucky and are able to blast it free. Lucky being the operative word.

does this have anything in common with the fact my blue tooth doesn’t connect? No blue tooth, no SD. I’m locked out. ![]()
The two functions are on the same board and replacing the board would fix both issues if the Bluetooth was in fact defective. But that said, a mechanical fault in the SD Card slot has no relevance to the Bluetooth circuit.

If you order one, order an extra wifi antenna. Odds are good it’ll break when you attempt to take out the AP board.

Were you working around the AP board or SD card recently?
No, I just got the printer and there was nothing that could have fallen in. Maybe a piece of the SD card got snagged. I’m guessing Bambu will have me pay to repair it.

The microSD card latch on my P1S broke after <5 removals
Sadly I wasn’t able to fix it properly, however I came up with a work-around that prevents the microSD card from popping back out, which is good enough for me.
Preferably emove the AP board entirely, or at least strip the printer down far enough so you get easy access to the top of the microSD card slot. Use a small pin (tweezers, small screwdriver) or a replaceable microSD card to push in the latch mechanism on the side through the normal opening (not from the top). Use another small pin to force the little metal latch on the top down with enough force so that it’ll bend a little and stay down, blocking the latch mechanism in place.
Now the microSD card will slide in passively and work just fine, but you need to pull it out manually in order to remove it. When the AP board is installed, this may require some tweezers. I think it’s still more elegant than jamming the card itself with a toothpick, though.
The P1 supports FTP, which a lot of people don’t seem to know. I’d recommend using that so once your microSD card is in place and working, you don’t need to mess with it anymore.

The card reader is simply broken. If through whatever miracle Bambu actually responds to a ticket, they aren’t going to be able to suggest much other than to replace the whole board.
The board is €42, I’ve never seen it on sale. It will almost certainly have the exact same budget card reader the original did, so I still wouldn’t trust it being able to withstand inserting and removing the microSD card repetitively, and I’d be exactly where I’m at now.
The replacement board also needs to be registered, requiring you to go through Bambu’s customer service, put the printer online, and bind the printer to your account. I’d prefer to avoid their cloud as much as possible.
Why would I replace the entire board at those costs, for one tiny spring that’s completely superfluous to me anyway?
If I did actually have a need for that, the next best solution for me would be to replace the card reader itself for $1, not trash the entire perfectly functional board.

Agreed. My SD card spring failed last summer. I ordered replacement card sockets with the full intention of pulling the board out and soldering in a new one. While waiting for the sockets to arrive, I removed the board, disassembled the shield, and manually removed the spring mechanism. This was intended as a stopgap measure until the sockets arrived. Since then, I’ve just used the SD card and relied on friction. I still have the package of 20 pcs on my desk and never quite got around to repairing the unit. But for six bucks and a little soldering, why would anyone go through the headache of dealing with Bambu?
